Same in Germany. Anyone who tests positive for Covid and dies is counted in the official numbers
I said it at the time, Eddie large.

History of heart failure spanning 20 years, includes a heart transplant and for all intents and purposes , was a very sick man sadly.

Has heart failure again at 78? Yet cause of death is covid-19.

Did he die from covid-19 or did he die because his heart failure? Did he contract covid-19 during his final days in hospital and therefore test positive or was that inconsequential?

To what extent to do separate the cause of death and combine them?

Like I said months ago. What you will find come December 31st is that many causes of death will be lower than any other year such as cancer , dementia , lung disease etc

If Coronavirus is still circulating, an awful lot of people will, regardless of official advice changing, make up their own minds.

Ignore the images and videos which make the headlines, the reality is more like :-

  • Shops re-open, but footfall and high street sales are still way down
  • Pubs and restaurants reopen - both are still deathly quiet in most places
  • Flights and foreign holidays are back on the agenda - very few people are bothering so far

So, going forward, we'll have offices re-opening, but lots of people will stick to working from home, or at least mix it up.

Stadiums will partially re-open, but some will still stay away.

Until people feel safe, rather than being told it's safe, large percentages of the population will play it safe. Eventually, most of us will get bored with playing it safe, and start to take risks, but I think we're some way off that point at the moment.

I'm OK with us moving towards a position where individuals are free to choose.

I'm comfortable to go back to the office as soon as I'm allowed but its fine that others are not.

My only real concern right now is public transport. I'd drive rather than get the train or bus right now.

Possibility of crowds coming back in the Autumn. Also talk of all restrictions being gone by Christmas.

All sounds good but a lot will have to go to plan
Restricted crowds, though. How do we work that out when we have 33,000 season ticket holders in a 39,500 capacity stadium?

Ballots.

It'll likely start with less than 10,000 capacity, so, if your season ticket ( possibly including family next to you ? ) gets drawn, then you have the chance to say you'll go. If you want to go, your ticket gets activated. If you don't get drawn in the ballot, or you don't want to go, you get a partial refund on your season ticket, which is deactivated for that game.

Edit : I don't know if that's the plan, but I suspect it will be.

I’m of the opinion that if everyone can’t go then no one should.

Because it isn’t fair. Why should people who have had a season ticket 20+ years miss out to someone who has had one for a season?

Nothing will be perfect for some time yet mate.

On the season ticket stuff, and who goes, I think a lottery is too random. If they have a 3rd of ST holders one game, another 3rd the next, and so on, everyone gets similar amounts of games. If someone doesnt/cant want to go, they can give their ticket to someone else, if track and trace can still be done.

What's this? Exactly what I said 3 months ago about the death toll of covid-19

The number isn't the real number, everyone who tested positive at any point whether or not that actually was a cause of death. The number is probably lower and more in line with everywhere else in Europe.

For example the Eddie large conundrum.

I got attacked for suggesting that this country would do such a thing...... Yet scientists are saying the exact same.

Like I've said all along, just because the news reports something , doesn't make it true.
All very well in principle, but the authors have made no attempt to quantify the "error" they claim is caused by the flaws in the methodology.
So the. "official" figures are exaggerated but by what degree? 5%, 50%?.
To me, the journo is merely adding weight to that sector of opinion that the government figures were false and the virus was only a bit of flu and the reaction was totally ott.
A couple of academics criticising a method of gathering statistical data does not mean shutdowns and other precautions should not have taken place.

“It seems that PHE regularly looks for people on the NHS database who have ever tested positive, and simply checks to see if they are still alive or not.

'PHE does not appear to consider how long ago the Covid test result was, nor whether the person has been successfully treated in hospital and discharged to the community.

'Anyone who has tested Covid positive but subsequently died at a later date of any cause will be included on the PHE Covid death figures... even if they had a heart attack or were run over by a bus three months later.”

PHE are a shambles, the U.K. has had over 290k people who have had it, therefore whenever they die, of whatever cause, they will be put on the Covid death number...shambles.....
If à person has had the virus, apparently recovered, then dies 7 months later from heart or liver or lung failure. Can we be sure that the demise was not instigated by the covid19?.

All I am saying is what if we were misled.

I'm not a scientist , that's why I am asking the question not providing the answer.
Neither are the majority of the journalists who pick up these stories from the Internet and introduce them to their readers.
We must wait for the publication of peer reviewed material, then get a scientist to explain it to the lay public.
