Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

As you'd expect really
I may be wrong, but unless we get a serious second spike of covid, I wouldn't be surprised if you see a negative excess deaths weekly figure between now and the end of the year. I think last weeks figures were below the 5 years average for the first time since March.

July 1st:

The UK had 9 times more cases than the Czech Republic, but the UK population is only 6 times greater than the Czech's.

I'm assuming that stats published a day ago are still somewhat malleable, so went back over a period of days to be more reliable. Feel free to look back over the last week of June to identify a clearer trend.

Yes. I'm sure the government will spin it to claim some kind of victory too!

But according to that report in the Times. Deloitte told them that they do not get the results of the tests back. All they do is facilitate the tests and send the personal details of who has been sent tests in the post, or gone through the regional testing sights onto the NHS. The test results are then returned directly to the NHS, who can then presumably check them against the information received from Deloitte. So how can Deloitte be the black hole for the test results if they never received them in the first place. Unless you believe that Deloitte have actually lied in their statement to The Times.
Not sure Deloitte said anything about that. They didn't comment. The rest of that paragraph talks about a process that should happen.

Proper snipefest in here - and a constant dick-measuring contest to determine who can best out-analyse and scrutinise the other person

You'd have thought an unseen killer pandemic may have brought people together to try and defeat it - Unfortunately we seem to have created a new Brexit, with remainers and leavers replaced with realists and doom-mongers

I'm only here until the gyms re-open

I hope that doesn't happen because there's no such thing as victory when we're talking about people's lives.

But the other side of the coin is that people have been using excess deaths as a political stick to beat the government with.

Ha Ha Ha.

Hopeless.

Big claims with f.a. data to back them up. As per usual.

And, of course, they wouldn't deserve to be criticised for their performance would they? 66,000 people more than usual for the outbreak period lost their lives.

Maybe we should clap them?

FFS.

So what are you insinuating here? That the process didn't happen. That Deloitte didn't pass the information on to the NHS? That the test results weren't returned to the NHS? That the test results were returned to Deloitte?

I don't know what you are trying to say/insinuate here. And you haven't answered how Deloitte can be the black hole for test results when they don't even receive the data.

Comparing number of cases is retarded as some countries are testing loads of people including those in the community, who only have mild symptoms, while other countries are only testing people who become seriously ill and are admitted to hospital.

As usual, chatting complete rubbish. Hopefully any potential vaccine is more potent than your intellect.

Shut and pick and side!

Czech Republic - 51,000 tests per 1m people
UK - 141,000 tests per 1m people
