But in Merica, if someone in hospital dies of Covid, (or anything come to that), do the hospitals go after the surviving family for their bill?

if you are married or that's your kid/dependent, yes.

gf died 14 years ago, we never never got married because of health care bills, so anyway long story short the $175K bill that arrived on my doorstep (after medicare paid their share) after she died would have been my responsibility if we were married.

Blimey. If we were in Merica, Mrs R being in hospital for 8 weeks would have bankrupted me if were married, but we aint.

My misses has been shielding for four months she is also terminally ill with throat cancer (given 6 months to live in October) so basically she could be in the last few months of her life and is not able to leave the house.
When she feels that she is able enough to go the shops I will take her bollocks to Boris and his gang.

Know of two couples who got married primarily because one had workplace insurance and so the other could get covered. Our system is very messed up
