Good post mate.

The number of older people especially, those shielding for 4 months now and with no great prospect to get out safely for the foreseeable, are going through tremendous hardship, physically and mentally. They are my concern, tbh.

We hear of all kinds of reports on people of working age and school age, but imagine being in your 70s and 80s and reduced to maybe a conversation every few days (or weeks) with a neighbour? Yes, there's social media for those who can navigate it, but it's not the same. This is the ongoing and underlying silent and unseen tragedy of Covid19.

Never mind opening incubation units like pubs and restaurants; this government need to be addressing urgently the social disaster in that demographic that's unfolding as we speak.
My misses has been shielding for four months she is also terminally ill with throat cancer (given 6 months to live in October) so basically she could be in the last few months of her life and is not able to leave the house.
When she feels that she is able enough to go the shops I will take her bollocks to Boris and his gang.

Due to a rise in cases, Leicester won`t be opening up hairdressers, pubs, restaurants etc for a further two weeks after this weekend.

So that puts to bed the myth that the government aren`t prepared to put local lockdowns in place if and when necessary.
Let’s see what happens when it hits london again.

I'm so sorry to hear that mate. And, of course, you should do that for her.

Best wishes.

Very tough for you guys. Sorry to hear about your circumstances. Must be tough staying in, in this situation. Think I’d be tempted to throw caution to the window and get out and about a bit.

This is awful mate. I’m really really sorry to hear.

The number of older people especially, those shielding for 4 months now and with no great prospect to get out safely for the foreseeable, who are going through tremendous hardship, physically and mentally is shocking. They are my concern, tbh.

What have you got against pubs you loon ?

Have you ever stopped to think that some pubs provide a vital lifeline for pensioners and elderly people, who go to the pub for company, not to get pissed ??

There`s one by me, that does tea / coffee / scones at near cost during the week in the afternoons, which attracts a lot of ladies of pensionable age, who would otherwise be stuck in a nearby sheltered accommodation by themselves. Most of them don`t drink a drop of alcohol whilst they are there and certainly don`t get pissed.

Another pub is almost exclusively used by male pensioners during the afternoons, who meet up for the company, not to get pissed and the licensee provides them with sandwiches every day, out of her own pocket.

In your jaundiced make believe world, you try to make out that every pub is full of pissed up, coke snorting, young lads, who are going to be deliberately sneezing and coughing over everyone inside lol

Is by me to be fair.

Something odd I have seen at least five times now.

A pub puts on their guidelines and then you to go the comments and someone tags their friend and said something like 'we should give this one a go xxx' like it's some kind of attraction.

There are going to be COVID pub tourists.

Hard to distinguish between the decent pubs and the rotters though isn't it?

4 months of isolation with no conversations with people is your dream isnt it grumpy?

Does it? The reports from Leicester suggest Leicester was not given any reason for this (the Mayor claims PHE sent data in at 1 am this morning), plus of course what are they actually going to do? How are they (the Government) going to enforce it? What are they going to do about the people who live in / near Leicester but work elsewhere?

This isn’t just for you, but I’d like it if people didn’t read government announcements and think things have actually happened.
