I dont see many of the 'danger zone' type people in the gym.

You approach the problem from the traditional western medicine view. Eg. Find cures and make money. Prevention is ALWAYS better than cure. In this case prevention is being healthy in the first place.

Then go and do star jumps in the garden instead of in a place which is the perfect vector for viral spread.

Also, "being healthy" is a non-factor - sure, you'll be safe if you're young and healthy probably, but the stats of this virus suggest you probably already are anyway. For anyone over the age of 60, not so much - and with gyms, suddenly we have a load of "healthy" asymptomatic spreaders passing it on to people at risk.

We've been told for months that risk factors are being indoors, coughing, sneezing, breathing heavily, being close to other people... and yet people are confused as to why gyms aren't reopening ffs.

Couldn't script this level of stupid.

Tubey these are all good points, but they also apply to arcades who are all opening July 4th.

To a much lesser extent. Penny slots aren't going to have you gasping for air. Hand sanitiser next to each machine, limited amounts of people in at any one time and they're essentially the same as a supermarket.

Gyms are totally different in terms of risk. It's like the difference between a cinema opening with social distancing and a standing room gig. One has a much bigger risk than the other.

For me I don't have a problem with reopening when they see fit as long as it follows a logical plan.

For me, the crucial thing is whether the government will have the balls to reverse the decisions if its clear we're seeing an increase.

Because the virus is exponential in spread, speed is critical. They can't afford to sit back and wait and see how it goes.

Right then. Let's all stay in our houses for eternity.

Like Germany are doing right now with imposing restrictions in two regions because of outbreaks: if testing and tracing is there then it's the most sensible option.

I think we're going along the same path here of having wishes and desires of how it should be managed, but perhaps worrying how the government will actually do.

Their incompetence is the catalyst for the virus to spread and ultimately that may result in more deaths if it isn't managed by a coherent strategy.

@ForeverBlue92 yes we do have to live with it and nobody is suggesting otherwise, but do we live with it with minimal deaths or live with it with lots of deaths?

So, you need face covering on public transport, but you're not mandated to have it now at 1m distance elsewhere, even indoors in shops etc.

They dont give a flying one about anyone as long as they can hand the spivs who support and fund them in the "hospitality" industry.

Just stay at home forever, you'll be fine then.

To be fair they are consistent in their utter farcical manner in which they have managed this Pandemic. I can only look in envy, at places such Portugal New Zealand...
