No it just proves police stop people more in crime ridden areas.

The estate I live on now (nice new build) has alot of Asian families and you never see a cop car about. Compare that to where I grew up on and police cars/helicopters were a regular thing.

Im not saying there aint racist cops about in the UK - just that alot of those stop and searches are more than likely just cops doing their job.

With resources such bare thanks to Tory cuts I doubt most bobbies have the time or efforts to go out of their way making life hard for one set of people.

People in the UK carry on like its the Deep South of America when for the majority of cases it isnt.

Class System - not racism.

The ball's already in the back of the net mate. The ref has given it.

And why are those areas crime ridden? And why do black people choose to live in crime ridden areas?
There isn't really a choice about it, which I would say to some extent supports @ForeverBlue92's point that one of the major factors is the impact of class.

I think @tsubaki mentioned it a while ago where he talked about the inequality of the British class system is the major contributing factor to deprived societies.

I agree completely The contributory factors that inequality are what we're trying to agree on.

Put it this way, I think it's probably worse(in terms of prospects and interactions with the state) being poor and black in Britain than it is being poor and white.

Yes, it probably is in most cases however it would be interesting to add the comparison of inequality based on the context of the location in which they live.

Poor and white in London and poor and white in say the North East or in the depths of the Rhonda may not be as close as some people expect them to be.

A poor black person in London may be disadvantaged towards their white-counterpart in the city, but they may be better of than a poor and white person in the NE.

Obviously, if they moved to said location then the process continues. There's some very wealthy and well-off people in Merseyside, but compared to the South...

... again, polls apart. I'm not saying there aren't issues with regards to racism, far from it, but perhaps the catalyst may in some cases be class rather than race.

I dont know why you're so angry mate - just admit whenever the issue of race comes up its always blown over proportion to the point that bells start moaning about crap like coco pops that distort any sensible message.

I've been stopped as a young lad by police randomly - I just got on with it as the estate I lived in growing up was dog rough nowadays police must be terrified of stopping a BAME person as its automatically turned into some massive race story when it might not be to do with race at all.

Too many in the UK looking for problems that are not there - now Covid-19 is racist deary me.
Do you turn up to funerals, approach the bereaved and say 'get a grip plenty of people have had worse deaths!'?

My daughter has been a member of Merseyside police for the best part of 20 yrs, and we were discussing all this the other day, she said in her time she's worked matrix, work in town on weekends, worked the football, and patrolled in police cars, and she said hand on heart she's never stopped a BAME person purely because of the colour of their skin, never.
Good.

Would you ever openly admit it if you did though?

Except at a Klan meeting.

I’ve only ever been stopped by the police one and that was in Croxteth right after the whole Rhys Jones thing.

And I’m from one of the roughest places in Liverpool. I reject the narrative that it is class over colour.
