See when I said weeks and weeks ago that anything and everything would be attributed to catching covid-19 I didn't think it would be this bad.

sick people
Cancer
Respiratory issues
Old people

Now

Bald people
Non smokers
Smokers
Toilet flushes
Probably many more

It's a bit silly isn't it? It's clear what makes you more susceptible in 99% of the cases but anything and everything else is being attributed to catching it, as silly as they may be.

Government releases the BAME, Covid-19 report and it has found that structural racism in our society may have been a direct contributor to more BAME people dying.

The Government's own report.

It makes it even harder for people to refuse to believe structural racism exists, including on here.

The whole report is utter bollocks if you ask me.

But if it helps to make change then it serves its purpose.

To expand.

" He said more than 90% of doctors who had died during the pandemic were from BAME backgrounds. Doctors from these communities were also three times as likely to say they had felt pressured to work without sufficient protective equipment, he added. "

90% of Doctors were BAME, but the first thing they go to is racism.

I cant even.

Sounds a load of waffle that mate.

Too much jumping on the BLM movement going on for my liking.

Coco Pops and now Covid!

There seems to be an underlying inference in all this, that BAME staff in hospitals, were overtly put into high risk situations over their white colleagues.

Which quite frankly offensive to anyone at all who works in a hospital.

known in climbing circles as the magic tab. Sorted me out on Aconcagua when I had symptoms of pulmonary odeama.

Diamox used to be all the rage when I did a bit of altitude walking. Is this similar then ?

This is partly anecdotal, but may well have some basis in fact, but don't treat it as gospel. Percentage wise locally to us, white doctors especially, but nurses as well to a lesser degree, are more likely to work in ITU/ICU than BAME staff, where they had high quality PPE, which seems, mostly, to have done the job.

BAME staff are possibly more likely to be one rung down the ladder, so may have been working in wards with lesser PPE which ended up putting them at higher risk than those on ITU/ICU.

It's all a bit vague at the moment, but there may be something in it as a minor contrubutory factor to BAME deaths in health professionals which suggests there might be some underlying subconcious bias behind who works on what ward.

Diamox is usually taken before you begin your ascents (usually about 1 month before you climb) as it helps your body acclimatise better to altitude, whereas dex is normally used to treat the onset of AMS. Some climbers I've seen take both throughout their ascents.

Both do help in treating HAPE and HACE. Personally I used to take 2 asprin every day of my ascents and only carried DEX as a precaution.

After 20-odd days without a COVID case, two recent arrivals from the UK into New Zealand sadly returned positive results. Made worse by the fact these two women drove from Auckland to Wellington six days' after landing in Auckland to attend a funeral before getting tested.

Guess it's not the first time in our history that the British arriving in Aotearoa has screwed everything up.

A matter of time until we get a second, bigger, wave with this kind of stupidity. And Icant see us going all the way into lockdown again. That goodwill has gone.

Whoever at NZ Immigration signed off on their compassionate consideration leave without first requesting that they undertake a COVID test before leaving quarantine should at the very least be asked to resign, and at worst prosecuted for criminal negligence. Peoples' lives and livelihoods are at stake.
