Not sure why people are arguing about buying bottled water really.
I know most people will think I may be talking about care for actual children, but I really meant the adult children of the over seventies. Adults with physical and mental conditions that require care.Although the majority of grandparents providing care are probably less than 70, it still leaves a lot who are >= 70.
In the interim, that caregiving has to change, but it'll need a lot of joined up thinking from government ( which seems unlikely ) and flexibility from employers to make it happen. Hopefully an increase in working from home will help, but it'll still leave a lot of incredibly hard decisions to be made by individual families![]()
Very unlikely that scenario mate.
If those bugs going round ( and I had a kin awful cough for over two weeks from one of them ) were COVID-19, we'd have expected to see a corresponding rise in hospitalisations and deaths as a result - which, despite the headlines over the winter, didn't really happen.
It could...or it could be completely unnecessary. To choose to go down the path before you have even seen any 2nd wave in China let alone how they handle it having learnt from the first wave seems very experimental. The Spanish flu had three effective outbreaks, the second was the most deadly after the initial outbreak had died. No one knows if this doesn’t follow a similar path, which would mean China having further outbreaks.....that’s why this herd immunity could be crucial......
Not quite. Close down secondary schools by all means, as the kids can stay at home and look after themselves, but primary schools must stay open to allow mums and dads to remain in key jobs. The Children’s education is irrelevant, we just move everything back by half a year......
Go figure Tory Conservative Government takes high risk strategy that risks the lives of the most vulnerable. Prefer it when they are just selling off my Grandpa's shirt.

This is what's happening in Germany, at least in my region.Pestons article for ITV talks about some sort of skeleton staff staying in schools to look after the children of hospital staff, police etc.
I dont know the ins and outs. The government probably dont know exactly themselves. But it was an interesting and slightly alarming article if it's all accurate.

What difference does that make?

Meanwhile, just heard of someone from work testing positive. Looks like my week of telework next week will be extended, and if not I might just refuse to go back in.
But without being aware of it, and we weren’t, the numbers will have just gone into the mixer.....
I can't see how a second wave in China won't happen. I'm actually amazed it (apparently) hasn't yet.
