The UK doesn't do masks. A nation of Geordies proudly going bare-chested into an Arctic winter.
As you know Dave I’m very “pro-mask” as a way to reducing transmission from the (possibly asymptotic) infected.

But am pleasantly surprised by the apparent protection they provide to the wearer - will be interesting to see more studies come out on this.

i’ve got stuff at home And in all honesty I’m probably ‘fitter ‘ or trimmer than when the gym was open . It took me a week /10 days to get a routine sorted but having a couple of bits of basic equipment Helped plus I hump Heavier stuff if I need to Every now and again . I was also carrying an injury When we lockdown so it was less of an issue . It’s deffo not keeping me awake at night that I can’t go .

that said for slightly different reasons I miss the routine of the gym and I’ll go as soon as it’s open . Like I say I know , through various groups , that to some people in all its forms training and specifically gym training can be So helpful to mental and physical health and recovery . I get some people think it’s ridiculous and I get people can do press ups at home or dips and ive got a whole routine now plus I’m not complaining. However for some it’s not just a case Of wanting to get massive .

So some people miss The gym , others Everton , some miss the pub , some 5 a side And some seeing their family or grandkids even though we all do no one really should Criticise anyone’s coping strategies for life even though to many of us those issues listed seem totally incomparable .

I have been fortunate as well in the fitness aspect. I enjoy the gym, but have switched to alternating between running outdoors as I used to do and using kettlebells for home workouts plus a few other things.

But I don't think I'll return to the gym for some time. I can manage without the social aspect as I tend to keep to myself anyway but I'd need a lot of convincing about the safety aspect, that's just me and my way.

It will be a great boost for people to return to gyms and and other aspects of their "normal" routines when available, in whatever regard

I miss Greggs.

But I'm willing to give up a few things to save lives.

As you say we have all made sacrifices, but I find the gym, pub and hairdresser crowd simply the worst.

A lot of stuff people do in the gym can’t be done at home either, certainly not cheaply. If you live in a flat there’s probably barely room for any large equipment never mind the noise it would create using barbells etc, doing any cardio exercise indoors is basically impossible as well when you live above people.

Its true that you can workout in some capacity at home but there is a reason gyms exist.

Imagine if there were public places like parks.

Gonna be a strange experience for me tomorrow, going back to work after nearly 12 weeks off, been told wearing PPE is not optional which is a good call. Got my mask through the post yesterday to wear on bus and in work, even though Primark are providing gloves and masks for us

First couple of days will be pretty much a prep and train exercise ahead of Monday’s reopening and I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone

people just miss normality mate . Some complain , some internalise it , some get that it’s part of a bigger picture and others scratch their heads and wonder what’s going on .

I mean all a bit mad isn’t it ?

Every muscle you work on in a gym can be worked on at home/outside.

It's almost like how did humans ever get in shape before gyms existed? :coffee:
