The second wave is a coming.

Stay safe everyone.

I think it’s probably best to ignore the advice coming from the government. They have proven themselves to be absolutely hopeless in the management of the pandemic.

Yep. Protesting in packed crowds in a pandemic-ravaged country doesn't seem to have been the smartest idea.

Sadly ironic too that the name of the protests is Black Lives Matter when the pandemic is disproportionately affecting people of colour on both sides of the atlantic.

So, pubs opening on the 22nd?

I`ve mentioned this before, but I`ve seen quite a bit of activity recently in pubs, where the interiors and exteriors are being remodelled - beer gardens extended, with a basic roof and interiors being opened up.

It`ll be the bigger, more open plan pubs / bars etc and those with beer gardens that will be allowed to open first and from what I`m reading it won`t be like going to the pub before all this happened - one way in, one way out, limits on numbers, spaced out seating, no standing at the bar, hand sanitiser all over the place, table service, limits on how much you can drink and cashless payments.

By the sounds of it, it`ll probably be safer than going to the supermarket.

Yeh I've seen some pics of places round here that have taken the time shut to spruce up the outdoors. A few pubs in the Lakes are already "open" now offering takeaway beers and you can sit on the grass outside them.

There`s an Italian by me doing the same thing - you can sit outside and drink a beer bought in there.

The more rural areas of parts of Cumbria could easily accommodate this, as nearly all the rural pubs have an outside seating area and car parks they could expand into. It`s just a question of working out the safest way to do it and I`m sure most will have been planning for the day they can re open.

Not so attractive when it's pissing it down

@peteblue from about 11.04 this morning a bloke from punch taverns on Emma Barnett radio 5 making the case for outside opening of pubs . You may be interested , if is critical of government lockdown but thought you may consider some of his comments interesting .

in these difficult times quite funny when he challenges the lack of scientific background in government and the interviewer asks “You’re very critical of this , do You have one?”
“ yes I studied medicine at oxford “
