If we are going back to history of what worked in past disease outbreaks this might be a less draconian approach than herd immunity

"Medical approach"?

You've been told by several people that polio, smallpox and measles were dealt with by innoculation campaigns, not by letting everyone catch the disease first. It is a pretty significant difference to what you are defending.

In all seriousness, when I read about "herd immunity" last night. I thought it was a joke, conspiracy theory from some Alex Jones website. The audacity and sheer loss of human suffering surely couldn't come from a human being. A computer simulation perhaps, some AI that balances cost over life.

It's surreal. Threatening and downright callous.

Greece is officially closing bars and restaurants ( though doubtless, away from main areas those instructions will be ignored ). Museums and archaeological sites will be closing too.

IIRC, they have talked about flattening the peak, or in Boris speak, "stamp on a sombrero" Which I can kinda buy into. Its here, it aint going away, there is no cure, so avoid, as best you can, a massive spike in cases.

Here’s a tip lad, there’s nothing wrong with admitting you don’t understand, when you don’t understand. A much better choice than trying to make out you know about the subject matter and desperately winging it, and ending up looking like a prize tit.

TBH I am amazed some pro-Boris cretin like Hodges or Toby Young (or Peston) hasn't pointed out that everyone who survived the Black Death had immunity to it afterwards*.

* their kids didn't, and nor did the kids of the survivors of their kids
