I know it's him and all, but still

I fail to understand how him having sex deminishes his scientific/epidemiological capabity*

*With the possible exception of him trying to do them at the same time.

As I read that I couldn’t help think that for the most part he is merely stating the bleeding obvious and forecasting what just about anyone on here would guess at.....

His ‘modelling’, which has been shown to be incorrect many times in the past, has been discredited yet again. @davek ‘s numbers and projections are closer to the reality than his.......

My mum knows modelling and epidemiology better than this fella...

I've seen better epidemiological models in my child's science class...

We need a proper epidemiologist to compete at the highest levels, rather than this fraud, he couldn't do a proper epidemiological model if his life depended on it

The HR have (and it pains me to say it) been really good throughout this. The head of HR for my site is a genuinely good person. Their instructions have been clear, they've erred on the side of caution with who they bring back and when and they've given us everything we need to work effectively at home.

Sadly, senior management are (as is usually the case) a bunch of sociopaths who only see things in terms of cost and profit and my department is the one in focus at the moment to save money so, politically, he has to be "seen" to be pulling out all the stops.

I've already told him I'm not going in unless he can tell me why I need to be there and I'm not taking public transport to get there. His response was "You should buy a car, it's unprofessional not to own a car"

Because he's paying you a wage? I'd have suspended you on the spot if you'd have said that to me.

Oh I know. Just I suspect many will instantly discount him, as we've seen above. That they still tend to lend credence to Cummings is equally interesting.

Who lends credence to Cummings ? Also, if I wanted to ‘instantly discount him’ I would not have bothered to even read the article. Which bits of his information to the committee did you think were hugely informative or new ? ...

Given you seem to have no comprehension of how the decision making process works from Government, SAGE, PHE and NHS (you're a busy retired man I get that) shall I just assume you've inherited this knowledge as well, as it provides a suitably easy target to deflect away from criticism of Johnson et al?

Will you do me a favour and keep out of my conversations with other posters...thank you....

Right... Let me lay it out a bit clearer.

HR say everybody in white collar functions is on a 4 day week and working from home unless absolutely necessary until October.
He says everybody in his department is expected to work when they're not getting paid and to attend 1 day a week regardless of necessity so we "do not become alienated from the business" whatever that means.
I'm not in the army, I'm permitted to question my instructions especially if they contradict other instructions.

What would you have suspended me for, incidentally?

Have you been furloughed?

Have you been furloughed?
I was furloughed from March 13th until May the 4th. We then resumed working from home on a 3 day week with 2 days on the Belgian government's furlough scheme. From next week, we're up to 4 days with one day unemployment.

The advice from the people who's job it is to set working standards is to work from home until October 1st with only pre-approved office work if absolutely necessary. Its not like I'm sat on my arse demanding my salary for nothing.

But the company are paying you a wage? You can't just say 'I'm not coming in'.

And I didn't. I said that given the advice from HR, I would not be attending unless (as per their advice) there was a necessity for it beyond him deciding it's ok because he doesn't believe in homeworking. For example, if I had to physically demonstrate something to a supplier.

If it were you, who's advice would you follow? Your boss or the people who have written the policy in conjunction with the unions and the government's medical advice?
