The spokesman said the government had not been including figures for the number of individuals tested in its recent daily testing figures because one of the government’s commercial partners doing testing had not provided figures.

How can the government then claim this

Tests31,75580,7963,174115,725

Just make it up as they go along, same with the capacity. 'Commercial partners' can't provide figures for the number of people tested. I wonder what the 'commercial partners' will charge for the testing ? It could be £millions over their contract obligations, as the government doesn't know how many people were tested. Therefore, it's open to fraud.

It's their way of addressing the fact that there's been a revolt amongst the science community over the last few days regarding the wisdom of unlocking society and the economy...and they are playing fast and loose with the word "consensus"...that rests firmly against what the murderers are doing.

A revolt amongst some scientists and medical 'experts', but Whitty and Vallance have stayed steadfast with their backing of Johnson and their herd immunity experiment.

I said that they're at a higher risk of being seriously ill from covid. Which is true. I have never said that this was in any way genetic and have previously said in these pages that the higher risk could easily be explained in socioeconomic terms.

When you make a post and somebody replies with part of the wording highlighted, it's fairly normal to assume that any accompanying comments were directed at you. He's explained they weren't. Topic closed
Sorry for the confusion.

There are no certainties in sciuence; it's all in a flux and can be disproven. However, common sense told you that, as at every point when discrepancies occurred between 'races' it's always usually down to socio-economic and cultural factors.
Q. Why are East African runners such good long distance runners?

A.socio-economic and cultural factors.

Q. Why does sickle cell syndrome not occur in white people?

A.socio-economic and cultural factors

Q. Why do some East Asians suffer from flushing when drinking alcohol?

A.socio-economic and cultural factors

Good grief.

Why are East African runners such good long distance runners?

Is it genetics?

I always believed it was that alot of them live at high altitude and then any of them who are good at running would have an advantage when competing at lower altitudes. Their body is used to getting less oxygen from the higher altitude.

That beach looks very crowded but it's hard to tell distance from eye level photos.

I can only go from personal experience down here. I've been to a beach 5 times since the government loosened the restrictions a couple of weeks ago, and I've been to 5 different types of beach. Yesterday I went to a tiny stony beach near the mouth of a river. In each case, whilst it was quite busy, it was very easily to keep socially distant from one another. I would say that it was mainly local people on them and that few had travelled very far, certainly from the people we spoke to. the furthest distance we travelled was 10 miles.

There were lots of families on all the beaches we went to, as you would expect with the schools being closed. We don't have kids ourselves and tend to try and avoid them at beaches if at all possible. But I have to say all the kids I've seen have been great. People, including kids, were social distancing, nobody was invading anybody else's space and at no stage have I not felt completely safe. Much rather be on a busy beach than a crowded supermarket.

It may be different elsewhere I don't know. In fact it may be different down here come July, August. But right now the beaches down here are very safe. The only issue I do have is the amount of on road parking I've seen when beach car parks have been full, or if people have gone to remote beaches off the coastal path.

Of the 128k or so tests yesterday, only about 1.2% were positive tests. I'd say that's an improving picture and a big enough sample to give a good idea.

It had been regularly in and and around the 3-4% range IIRC
According to BCUHB, the health board here, the number of cases are still rising, I do believe the correct way out of lockdown is something to be managed regionally rather than nationally.
