Going outside in an environment with a reproduction number at or near 1 (and probably over 1 in many localities in the north west of England) is not sound advice.
It's way too general an approach.
Look at the enormous amount of tools now not observing social distancing...and certainly not covering their stupid 'kin faces. It's too dangerous for those being shielded to go out. Stay indoors.
What an utter disgrace of a government this is.
Was talking to an old colleague in the UK today and they raised a very good point, he said R numbers are being presented as national averages, there are however regional variants, he mentioned there were some areas in the UK were the R is above 1 and then some, however the 1 nationally is still being used to justify opening up. Obviously that puts some people more at risk then others.
It was something I honestly hadn’t considered before, very good point and something to keep in mind when it comes to reproduction numbers and how governments use and present them.
