I remember last year sitting in the pub with one of the lads. He had his back to the window and the sun was behind him as it was going down. I was facing him on the other side of the table. As he spoke, you could actually see the air movement and the ‘droplets’ of moisture being projected. I immediately moved my pint. Throughout this epidemic, and before, I have thought of that evening and bear it in mind if ever talking to anyone and will no doubt be reminded of it again when the pubs open. The debate, from a pub perspective Is that a 1 metre distance works better, It would, but I have to say I think the 2 metre rule is safer.....
This was a disappointing end to what started out as a promising romance novel.

Another comparison for the UK Banana Republic:

'Covid-19 came late to Turkey - on 11 March - but soon spread to every corner of the country. Within a month, all 81 provinces had been affected.

Turkey's became one of the fastest growing outbreaks in the world - worse than China or the UK. There were fears that the death toll would soar, turning Turkey into another Italy, which was then the hardest hit country.

But three months on, that hasn't happened, even without a total lockdown.

The official death toll is 4,397. Some doctors here dispute that, claiming the real figure could be twice as high because Turkey only includes those who test positive. Either way, in the annals of the Covid-19 era, it's a relatively low number for a population of 83 million.'

Did you post that to cheer us up.....

As an aside, there's a protest being planned in Czech against the way their government have handled the crisis. The main beef of the organisers, who also organised the protest against Babis last year, is that not enough financial support was given and the state suckled up too quickly to the Chinese. I suppose it shows that even if a government receive general support internationally, through the domestic lens, they can still garner opposition.

Now if only anyone internationally looked on us with envy

I'm sure they have good reason to be protesting, but it's safe enough to have protests there...they should maybe reflect on that too.

The rest of that report is well worth reading - I mentioned the testing bit earlier in the week (Istanbul alone has more field testers than the entire UK will have, and they are working now rather than just launching) so thanks for the rest of it.

We have herd immunity. It's never been dropped as a 'plan'.

This government gave the game away right at the beginning: 'take it on the chin'.

They've been shown up on the world stage for what they are: a backward-thinking and barbaric regime. The UK is that country all other people across the globe point to during this time and say "thank God we're not living there".

That's what the Johnson Gang's legacy will be.
