That's a good point.

But if people want Cummings out then any MP that has broken lockdown rules should have to resign, regardless of their party.

I think it's important that anyone representing the country is held to the same level of accountability.

Michael Gove was caught exercising during the time he was supposed to be isolating after his daughter showed symptoms. When caught he concocted the story about getting special treatment form Whitty for his daughter to get tested and it was negative.I wonder why Cummings didn't get special treatment to get tested when he claimed he was not allowed a test? One rule for some as one rule for the rest of us.

I think you'll find the vast vast majority of people haven't 'broken some lockdown rules' as the queues outside shops show, not going to family (driving or walking), not having family around to help with child care , only taking one exercise, not driving to take exercise etc.. Those people on Wesminster Bridge along with the police and ambulance paramedics are not the ones that make the 'rules' Cummings is. One rule for him and another for the rest of us.

I live in a pretty decent area but have seen a few neighbours breaking lockdown rules. Some have had friends over, social distancing while they visit but still not allowed.

Someone I know was driving to a park to take excersize when they weren't supposed to, yet they ignore that while calling for Cummings to be sacked.

I think you're probably right in that the majority haven't, especially those isolating, but many have disregarded rules if and when it suits them.

Yeah, he sets the rules. I just think what he did wasn't like he was out partying and you could class it as an exceptional circumstance although I think he was lying about the castle visit, eyesight etc and should have to go on that basis.

Not really; Cummings shouldn’t be removed because he breached the lockdown.

If he’d said that’s what he had done at the time people would have a lot more sympathy for him and we might not have seen the feeding frenzy that got rid of Ferguson (which might have actually damaged our response).

What he should be removed for are the lies, and the fact that he clearly has way too much power and influence for any unelected person to have in the British political system. Anyone who can get Cabinet ministers *and* the PM to do what they’ve done these past few days is not someone it’s safe to have around.

I wasn't aware of that but in that case he should have to resign.

Problem is if Cummings goes it's highly likely both parties will start calling for MP's on either side to step down for any misdemeanor related to lockdown, no matter how severe each case.

That'll just end up in chaos and detract from dealing with the crisis.

If we get rid of any MP or aide who lies there won't be many left on either side.

Have you informed the police about some of your neighbours breaking lockdown?

Cummings was 'doggo' - laid up - for 10 days according to his wife but ..

"Several days later on April 5, a neighbour of Mr Cummings' parents claims they spotted him outside the property while passing for their daily exercise.

They said they could hear Abba's Dancing Queen blasting out loudly and peered over the hedge where they saw him, wearing a scarf and thick coat, with a small boy running around".

Durham's acting police and crime commissioner said Mr Cummings' lockdown journey was "most unwise."

The situation in care homes, care in the community and the community at large is chaotic brought on by this government's handling of the crisis. Highlighted by one rule for Cummings and other government ministers and another rule for the rest us and don't do as I do, do as I say. Deflection doesn't work most of the time.

Even though some of what they did was breaking lockdown rules, none of it was really that bad.

A neighbour having a few friends over while social distancing isn't worth complaining about when people are more likely to catch the virus going to the shops.

People at the beaches, not social distancing are doing more damage, so I don't see the point in reporting people for that even though technically they are breaking the rules.

Yeah, how they've dealt with care homes is a disgrace and heads should roll for it.

Peered over a hedge and from a distance recognised a man wearing a scarf and coat ?

I'm no fan of Cummings, but that gets laughed out of court as evidence.

That’s nowhere near enough to get laughed out of court.

The Libyan bloke convicted of the Lockerbie bombing was largely put away because a Maltese shopkeeper ID’d him as someone who had once bought something off him several years previous to when he was asked to make the ID.
