Yes, his last line there nails it: he's counterposing advice and practice.
To what end? It's obviously hypocrisy, everyday knows that the Government have set rules which are designed to stop people spreading a virus and have ignored their own advice - it's typical behaviour for the self entitled.

Suggesting that it should now herald a mass disobedience might be theoretically interesting, but practically dangerous.

Yes, it's hypocrisy, that's abundantly clear.

If you really want to go and see your mum, because a government official has done it, then be prepared that you might infect her and others.

Ive seen a few people say something similar.

Im not going to see my mother cos some floppy-haired arsehole told me not to, im not going cos its unsafe for her to be near me.

That's not what his point was.

*sigh*

Yet, there’s plenty of people not on the left thinking he should resign.

You’re always the first to pipe up and say people make things needlessly political, yet you’re the only one in here letting their political allegiance cloud their judgement and you’re coming across as someone completely detached from reality because of it
Pete 'doesn't give a toss'. He cares so little about it he's spent his entire weekend mounting a spirited defence of it.

Mate, there is no point.

He is sat in his house in his nice Tory village and he will keep going in to bat for them regardless of the circumstances.

He is a sheep. No matter the evidence, no matter the facts, the party is always right.

@Walken Kerala still doing well, unfortunately Mumbai is not

Funny you should mention it, I just read about India's lastest figures and was wondering on Kerala's progress. Given their surroundings it is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the value of investing in public healthcare and education. I've become genuinely fascinated by the place and was chatting to Woolly blue about it who has travelled there and spoke very positively about the place and its people.

Hopefully Mumbai and the rest of India can turn the corner, but it's a hard watch seeing the daily figures these densely populated countries with poor leadership and huge wealth gaps. It doesn't bare thinking about what the frontline workers must be enduring, though perhaps we should all be thinking about it.
