Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Cummings is a distraction (a huge turd of a distraction, granted, but a distraction nevertheless).

The Guardian and Mirror have wasted a lot of time and effort (and people's energy) on pursuing a story that led to no action. They've failed in their attempt to get a resignation and emboldened them. No smoking gun evidence for story number two = no cigar.

The major story is what it's always been: the continued mass slaughter of people on a daily basis; the continued threat to people who are encouraged to break out into the workplace; the continued lies over testing.

The rats are deserting the Johnson ship...

"What should follow this is people going out again and doing more of what they want"
Did you honestly think that was what he was advocating?

He went on to underline in follow up posts that his point was that those in power are saying "do what we say, not what we do".

It was easy enough to follow.

You would think so, but for the left this is the most important issue plaguing the planet.........no apologies for the use of the word....
This type of elipses could be used in the genre of for a script in a stage play. But you are just blagging on a footy forum. You dont understand genre.

I think this is why so many people are outraged. Wouldn't you be better directing your energy at calling out hypocrisy than deciding to potential infect people?

Here's the thing about that.

Given that one of those in charge has already got sick by ignoring his own rules, the other decided to drive all the way to elderly parents (who are at most risk) and the third fella I refer to is in charge of the science of the whole situation. I'm simply saying that what they are telling us has no value anymore. One of them sure, put it down to idiocy, but them all?

At the end of the day we are all going to keep ourselves and others safe. It's what we have done for the last two months and will keep doing so, irregardless of government advice.

But anyone who takes current revelations and decides that there is much less risk now is perfectly justified to do so. There is no fallback to breaking lockdown anymore. As it's been said in here, how do the police manage this now?

Don't take what I am saying literally , I won't be venturing out any time soon besides work and shopping. But if I really want to go and see my mum now, I may just have the urge to do it knowing full well it is fine to do that by the government's own words today.

Cummings must have something on Johnson.

What could be so bad that he'd have to resign?

Naughty pix of sex or drug-taking wouldn't do it because the benighted Tory voters would just go Oh Well that's Boris getting his oats.

it must be something financially crooked.

Maybe I've got it wrong, although following up with this conspiracy theory probably adds to the confusion:
Will it though?

The chief advisor didn't feel like going out would endanger anyone.

The chief science officer didn't think he was putting anyone at risk by going out.

The prime minister didn't think it was dangerous to shake hands of covid patients.

If the people telling you to do something aren't adhering to the rules they have set themselves then can you really believe it?

Put everything aside for one moment, you are saying we need to do what the people telling us to do it aren't doing. Think about how ridiculous that sounds.

Yes, it's hypocrisy, that's abundantly clear.

If you really want to go and see your mum, because a government official has done it, then be prepared that you might infect her and others.

So pissed off at all the bellends saying it was about his child and we would all have done the same, no it's not, it's about gut wrenching stuff like this:

"Had to FaceTime goodbye to mother, then ask her siblings not to come to her funeral. Haven't been able to see my brothers since. Been holding it together but the pressure brought tears of anger at being treated so disgracefully by PM"

Yet, there’s plenty of people not on the left thinking he should resign.

You’re always the first to pipe up and say people make things needlessly political, yet you’re the only one in here letting their political allegiance cloud their judgement and you’re coming across as someone completely detached from reality because of it
