Okay Mr Cummins
Ah yes, deride the idea that it’s some manically convoluted plot to lower pension payments with a virus that has a 1% mortality rate, despite it probably costing the country more to deal with the aftermath of this virus. That makes me a Tory.

You couldn’t possibly be an ultra thick b’stard for entertaining such a boneheaded conspiracy theory.

Those 11 pensions that don’t have to be paid have been fully worth it.

How sweet of you to say, take it your a Tory ?
Death are just collateral, it will be investment and savings is this mindset real pain. True deaths from this virus will never be established as there are not enough test kits, so plenty of smoke and mirrors for Tory Corporal Jones to splurge out.
Would have willingly surrendered my waffle breakfast to be in number 10 when Trump changed tack over night...

Theoretically, yes, but sometimes the medical experts are cult members and/or marginalized and brought out for show.

The US medical expert says that someone exposed to 2 virus positive people should be tested and self isolating, but POTUS knows better

Just heard numerous medical experts from universities in London say on the radio that banning public gatherings is unlikely to halt the spread of the disease, with you more likely to catch it crammed into a pub to watch the behind closed doors matches or crammed in the supermarket trying to get a 50th roll of toilet paper, purely because those are closed environments. Yet, despite this advice, there's a clamour from the armchair experts to ban such gatherings, with the actual experts saying the only real value from doing so is to not tie up the emergency service resources usually required to support such events.

For clarity, I don't think anyone is suggesting that Trump isn't a complete whopper, but I'm not sure the British approach is in any way comparable to the American approach, due in large part to the greater availability of testing, and the support that is designed to encourage people to self-isolate when they do get something.

I've said before about whether people have changed their behaviour as a result of all of this navel gazing, and to be honest, if you were thinking of going to a football match or running the marathon at the moment then more fool you.

Oops calm down mate, just think this has been handled poorly, ignore my Tory jibes, honest.

He's the right expert to look after your stocks as much as possible, the wrong one to keep as many people alive as possible

 he's done a bloody awful job of looking after my stocks if that's the case. The general feeling I get is that this is going to drag on for quite a few months, and those countries who are shutting down everything will soon be on their knees financially. I know finance is seen as a dirty word here, but as a vaccine is likely to be another year or so off, can you shut down entire areas for a year? Really?

I've stayed out of this thread for the sake of my sanity, but aren't the government following the advice of the chief medical expert(s)? I'm sure I saw an interview or two yesterday where the said person explained what they're doing and why they're doing it. Is he the wrong sort of expert?

Their advice, and subsequent government actions, seem to differ to others. It appears to me that our bellend leaders will have to bow down to other countries measures because ours just don't join up, reckon by Wed or Thurs of next week they'll annoubce school closures.
It's what happens when our govt makes decisions based on business and economics ahead of healthcare.

Their actions are being led by the medical personnel. You're letting your hatred for all things Tory cloud your judgement.

There’s also been no reported ‘severe’ cases or deaths in kids that have it. Hopefully it remains that way.

Collateral damage it is then?

Whilst correct on the pub/supermarket front it’s still a risk with public gatherings. Surely we should be trying to cancel anything we logically can to help curb the spread. You can’t shut down a supermarket but you sure as Hell can cancel a festival. It’s about small wins and small steps forward.

I total accept that experts are telling them and obviously I’m clueless in this but my issue is that every other expert appears to be advising their own nations something different . Everybody is going left and we’re going right , it just seems odd Is my position .
