It certainly would and as @tsubaki mentioned there could be various other forms of evidence (credit card, toll roads, private CCTV) yet that's if he did actually go.

The other issue is the legality of obtaining any evidence that proves he was there because evidence as you mention would need someone to a check his reg.

Is someone going to do that legitimately or do it under the table with its own risks? Either he didn't go or the government are betting on it being kept under wraps.

If his reg is going to be checked against ANPR, it'll need to come from the very top; if someone does is without authorisation, it's their career on the line.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Tory party haven't already gone their background checks on the retired teacher to help tarnish his credibility etc etc.

It would be very interesting to see if that would be covered by FOI - I think it probably would be, if it was a journalist asking and just for the one index.
