An easy example could be football stewards and those who work in the bars etc. within grounds; basically, parts of the hospitality sector won't be emerging soon.I don’t like the sound of that tbh. Who is not expected back to work until October ?.....

No. The HMRC site said to sit tight and I/we would be contacted in May, with the details of how to claim and how much they had worked out.
The eligibility was pretty straight forward, unless you only started being S/E last year. For everyone else, it was Have you got a Pulse.
I love how the right wing now see workers who have been furloughed through no fault of their own as he new ‘scroungers’.
The eligibility checker told me I can claim on 13th May, the email from HMRC says between 13th-18th May and my mates tells him he can claim on 15th when he does the eligibility check, guess they're just trying to make sure there isn't a mental rush all on the same day and crash the system. I'm not claiming as it hasn't negatively effected me but just thought I'd have a look at it seeing as they sent me an invite to claim.
Where you’d expect it to be, in the Daily Mail comments section.Where?
I havnt seen that anywhere, that said, I dont tend to read right wing stuff.
We must be in the same club, so to speak. Thats the dates I was told in an email recently.
I dont know if I will claim. Its a bit of a moral dilemma, but on balance, a Bird in the Hand might be the wise option, even if I just hold on to the cash till I have to pay the tax on it.

You reckon ???
Yep definitely, I've had the conversation with a few people about it and they'll be taking the money when they haven't been impacted financially. However that's not to say they won't be further down the line so I'm not gonna sit in judgement at them as I can completely see the reasoning.
As The Times’s Donald McNeil writes in his latest overview of the virus in the U.S., “The much-feared ‘second wave’ of infection may not wait until fall, many scientists say, and instead may become a storm of wavelets breaking unpredictably across the country.” |
If you’re able to set aside some time today, I recommend reading the full piece. |
