It’s a much better course now since it’s been run by a private company. Plans to build a hotel at the club house going through.
Apart from the fact that a lot of the remedial work on the course consisting of throwing tonnes and tonnes of sand down - basically doing it on the cheap.

Still, the course is much better to play and the setup is more professional, so can’t grumble too much. They’ve got Bowring and Sherdley too!

That's a devastating thread by Anthony Costello, former director with the WHO:

Dido Harding overseeing the appy clappy crowd...:D

The Government has appointed Baroness Harding to lead the COVID-19 Test and Trace Taskforce, ex-CEO of Talk Talk when 4 million people had bank details accessed by fraudsters. When asked if the data was encrypted or not, she said: "The awful truth is that I don’t know." (

Therefore it is impossible to guarantee that it will be safe for primary school employees

Yea, I totally agree with that, and the idea of primary schools being fully up and running in a month seems barmy.

On the other hand, I'm guessing it would likely take up to six months to do enough research to support a full risk assessment, and even then, it's impossible to make guarantees.

The longer we leave it, the more catching up there's going to have to be, and, generally speaking, that will disproportionally effect the pupils from the poorest backgrounds.

As a starting point, it would make sense not to involve staff who are either elderly, or have underlying medical conditions, and randomly test the staff and pupils in some schools to see what's going on in terms of transmission. That's probably far too sensible for the powers that be though.

And then be accused by the usual suspects to using those schools as laboratories and murdering children.....good idea though it is......

Teachers and staff in the vulnerable age group or close to should maybe be given the golden retirement handshake. Teaching assistants then moved up. Then new young people moved into teaching assistant jobs. Same is happening in hospitals with junior doctors being bumped up without being fully qualified. Things like this will need to be accelerated. People don’t want to accept it I get that but there needs to be a re balancing here. It’s essential now and no point digging heels in and putting up walls.
