They talk about slowly opening things up and keeping social distancing in place, in the last week I've seen organised queues outside the banks descend into pretty much a free for all and barely a metre between people and a couple of people having an argument with security at Iceland cos they dared to shut at 5pm to allow NHS staff in. We've got a long long way to go whilst people continue to be selfish tosspots.
At this rate, I really can't see how a lot more people will needlessly die because the infection and death rate are still high, but people are actively socialising.

Meant to post this earlier, but forgot. My parents had a food parcel delivered to them this morning, no warning, just a knock on the door, and a big box left. We reckon its a council led idea, but it seemed a bit random after 6 weeks or so!

Anyrate, they dont need the food. Most of the items were tinned/long life, obvs, but they kept the fruit and veg, and I just took the rest to the Sainsburys food bank with some stuff me and Mrs R didnt really need as well.

No i do plenty of it myself through work but usually want to have some solid data before coming out to the public with it.

Everything that has happened in terms of type of studies published is normal for medical research.

The biggest difference is that normally only medical types are looking at this early data and we know and treat it as early data not definitive.

Weirdly, we have 2 charities having some sort of fight with eachother down here.
We give food to a designated charity everyday, serious amounts too.
Last week the other charity showed up, flashed her charity ID and the woman had it all away.
The charity it was meant for showed up an hour later to collect nothing !
Absolutely crackers.

The local authorities (council, NHS, social etc.) were tasked at putting a list together a few weeks back where people, including the army, would deliver packages.

If they've only got it now, they're probably deemed really far down the list or it's come from a local charity etc. which have filling in the gaps for those not eligible.

We actually helped drop some off just last week because the rumours are that the process may need to continue for a good couple of months.

Lockdown lifting measures next week will be ‘very limited’, No 10 clarifies

Downing Street has said that any relaxation to social distancing measures next week will be “very limited”, as Boris Johnson told Cabinet: “We will advance with maximum caution.”

The assurance came as Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon warned that any dilution of the “stay home” message could be “catastrophic”, and the Welsh government warned against sending “mixed messages” to the public.

There were warnings today that suggestions apparently briefed to friendly newspapers that Mr Johnson is set to give the all-clear for sunbathing, picnics and unlimited exercise risked sending “mixed messages” to the public ahead of what is expected to be a sunny Bank Holiday Friday.

No 10 issued a plea to Britons to stick by existing social distancing rules over the weekend, which require them to leave their homes for only a few limited reasons and to maintain two metre separation when outside.

Briefing cabinet on his plans, Mr Johnson said: “In considering whether there could be any easement of the existing guidelines, we are not going to do anything that risks a second peak.

“We will advance with maximum caution in order to protect the NHS and save lives.

“We will be guided at every step by science and data and we will closely track the impact of any easing of social distancing measure and will not hesitate to tighten the rules if required.”

Mr Johnson’s official spokesman told reporters to expect any relaxation of guidelines next week to be “very limited”, but declined to confirm or deny any details of the proposed changes.

“We are at a critical moment in the fight against the virus and we will not do anything which risks throwing away the efforts and sacrifices of the British people,” he said.

Following a meeting of the Welsh cabinet, a spokesman for Mark Drakeford’s Welsh government warned of the danger that public discussion of possible easing of restrictions risked undermining the “stay home” message and indicated that Cardiff may take a different approach from London.

And Ms Sturgeon said: “I particularly strongly believe for us to drop the clear, well-understood stay at home message right now could be a potentially catastrophic mistake."Downing Street has already started replacing the “stay home” instruction with the words “stay safe” in messages issued on its Twitter feed.

A Welsh government spokesman said: “Some of the reporting in today’s newspapers is confusing and risks sending mixed messages to people across the UK.

“The first minister of Wales will announce the outcome of the cabinet's decision in due course. Our message for this bank holiday remains, stay home, protect the NHS, save lives."

Mr Johnson discussed his plans with the leaders of opposition parties at Westminster following this morning’s cabinet meeting and is expected to speak later with leaders of the devolved administrations.

Speaking at her daily coronavirus briefing, Ms Sturgeon said: “The potential changes that have been reported in the media today have not yet been discussed with the Scottish government or, as far as I know, with the other devolved governments."

The Scottish first minister said she would prefer all four of the nations of the UK to make changes “together at the same pace” but added: “I will not be pressured into lifting restrictions prematurely before I am as certain as I can be that we will not be risking a resurgence of infection rates.”

She said: “If the prime minister decides that he wants to move at a faster pace for England than I consider is right for Scotland, that is his right, I will respect that and I will not criticise him for doing that.”

Downing Street has said throughout the outbreak that it wants the four UK nations to emerge in unison from lockdown, though it has made clear that restrictions could be reimposed in specific areas on a localised basis if new hotspots of disease emerge.

Asked for Mr Johnson’s message to anyone tempted to head for parks and beaches to take advantage of good weather over the long weekend, the PM’s spokesman said: “The social distancing measures are there for a reason and we would encourage everybody to continue doing what they have done so far and stick by the rules and protect the NHS.”

Charities can be pretty uncharitable to each other in my experience!

That sounds right. Despite being mid 80s, and Dad being diabetic, they were told they were not on the vulnerable list. Cos they arent really. It just seemed odd that after 6 weeks someone decided to send them some stuff, like, just in case they were still alive!

Hence I suggested the food bank, which they thought was a great idea.

Exactly. I feel like I'm a broken record, but each day I am seeing an ever increasing number of people undertaking in flagrant breaches of the rules.

Honestly, I wish it would absolutely chuck it down and the temperature rapidly lower because people are becoming jaded and all the more fuelled by the sun.

In fact, I’ve came home to our drive, which has H-markings, partially blocked by three doors down with the usual suspects of her mum, dad and sister.

There they were having a BBQ, nice few drinks and a pleasurable family afternoon. A blunt FRO and off they went without a shred of guilt or compassion.

I went for a walk by us, there is a kids play area en route that is fenced in with railings round it with a big sign saying "Closed due to Covid-19" yet there were parents in there with their kids. On the way back there was a fella there passing his kid over the railings to another fella before jumping over the railings himself.

Likely to be the council who have got round to it after filtering through their vulnerability lists. I was working on that, what feels like about 2 months ago, but is probably actually just over a month... surprised it's taken that long and arrived without any notification

Get right onto their Doctor because I can assure you, as per the legislation, they're at risk because diabetes is part of the underlying medical conditions.

They may not be in need of much support, but the Doctor should be aware as it will ensure that if support is needed (medical, social etc.) they'll get it as a priority.

Right from the legislation:
9SCHEDULE 1 Regulation 1 Underlying Medical Conditions 1. Chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema or bronchitis. 2. Chronic heart disease, such as heart failure. 3. Chronic kidney disease. 4. Chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis. 5. Chronic neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, a learning disability or cerebral palsy. 6. Diabetes. 7. Problems with the spleen, such as sickle cell disease or removal of the spleen. 8. A weakened immune system as the result of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, or medicines such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy. 9. Being seriously overweight, with a body mass index of 40 or above.

Reckon so.

But wouldnt it make more sense to keep the actual vulnerable folk topped up?
