Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Correct Government can't be trusted with how the data is collected or stored. And Tories should have no good faith in handling people's data.

You can vault this when outrage starts about how this data was misused! It will be like China all over again.

I also don't have a smart phone for the wider issue of privacy... Never used my real identity on social media, why would anyone...

Fair enough if you are that worried about privacy.

3:20 p.m. 53% of residents, workers with coronavirus show no symptoms, Mission District study reports: A collaboration between UCSF and the Latino Task Force for COVID-19 that tested 4,160 people within an area of San Francisco's Mission District, found that of those who tested positive for an active coronavirus infection, 53% of people reported no symptoms. Results of serological antibody tests that determine previous infection will be released later this month.

You said you objected to installing it because of the Tories, but never mentioned your phone couldn't run it.

I don't see why anyone would object to installing an app that will help save people in the pandemic, regardless of their politics, least of all a socialist.

I don't consider myself a staunch supporter of any party, as I keep an open mind and decide based on a parties policies and leader during an election campaign.
I'm sure everyone wants rid of the virus asap as much as you do. Track & trace will be a vital part of that, but this App is a no no.
The people behind it are not to be trusted. Sh!thouses of the highest order in fact.

Its a Tory Government peddling the app it's got everything to do with politics and with its successive predecessors having an appalling record on privacy...

If the NHS was pushing this alone it would be worth looking into. However, as government got it's mitts (centralised database) on it, nah. Would not touch if it were a Labour Government pushing with current set up.

Pfft nanny state, we have milk nurse state when it comes to Tory Government poking it's nose into people's business.
I bet you have a lot more information available on social media than you would ever provide through this app.

I'm paid to write software for the NHS, and I'm not installing this app.

Amazing turn of events in this thread as the lads that usually demand we all do something for the common good at the expense of our own personal good are now coming across as massive hypocrites in refusing to use an app to help mitigate the spread of a virus across wider society. Fantastic.

It does seem a funny time. The government should make its own PPE, but not its own app. Hopefully the links I shared above will help provide a bit of insight into the matter as I dread to think how the media are bungling the topic.
