Are you my Dad? Cos my mum does (did) the exact same thing. Drove him, (you), nuts.
It does my swede in! She worries about the cleaner's opinion, so she goes around and hoovers, mops the floor and clears / wipes down all the surfaces.

"That's what I'm paying her to (add expletive) do!" usually falls on death ears, but she won't actually stop getting her to come.

With regards to testing, it seems like the scientific advisor is suggesting that the level of testing (meeting the target) now needs to be used more wisely.

Only with the testing and the new app for contract tracing will actually allow the government to start considering relaxing lockdown, so lets say a few weeks.

HSJ understands around 27,000 home tests were posted to people yesterday as part of pillar two work. They will form part of today’s testing figures which are yet to be published.

So even taking that 27,000 out, which they’ve been quite forward about including as Shapps mentioned it the other day, we’re at 95,000, which is far better than when the country was getting 6 done a week. Celebrate the small things and stop getting wound up. It’s been handled terribly but the light at the end of the tunnel is there.

Expected.

How can anyone possibly go to 100,000 houses carry out tests and give results there and then.

They haven't carried out the tests, they're in the post. So can't give results.

"The government has changed the way it is counting the number of covid-19 tests carried out in a bid to hit its target of 100,000 tests per day by the end of April, HSJ can reveal.
Previously, a test would be counted once the sample had been processed in laboratories. But this definition has been changed in the last few days, a senior source told HSJ.
The Department of Health and Social Care is now including tests that have been posted or delivered to people’s homes in its figures. This means tests which are sent to people are counted before the recipient has provided and returned their sample to a laboratory.
HSJ understands that up to 50,000 of the tests that will be reported as having taken place on 30 April will actually represent the mailing or the agreeing to mail a home testing kit".

The water from Lake Vyrnwy is lovely and soft and there's no need for bottled water at all, and appliances last much longer and mostly need no descaling.

I know friends who live in Norfolk and the water is so hard and you can taste the difference. There's no need in Liverpool though for buying water bottles.

We must go through at least fifteen to twenty 500ml bottles a week, which is a waste of money - but I pick my battles.
I used to have a workmate who came from Bala. He said he and his mates used to often go to Lake Vyrnwy just so they could piss in it, because they knew it serviced the water supply of Liverpool.lol

So more tests are in the system then?

Thats surely good news?

Some churlish behaviour here tbh......no need really. The news is not great, but it is getting better. If it was getting worse then perhaps fair enough, but it isn’t, we needed more beds in ICU, they were built, we needed more tests, we have now tested more people than France and can test at 100k per day. It’s not great, it could have been much better earlier with hindsight, but at least we appear to be doing the right things.....
