Don't know where else to put this but think I should say for anyone else having to use the UC system.
I basically complained online using the journal about the tosh payment I received (£180 backdated to March 20) - with £229 of my £409 allowance having been deducted for tax and national insurance as I had (truthfully declared) earnings of £365 for the period between March 20 and April 19.
They called me today to basically just tell me what I already knew - it had been deducted because I earned £365 (such a huge, huge figure I'm sure we'll all agree).
I asked why so much. So for every £ that you declare, your Universal Credit is deducted by 63p.
63p to every £.
Just be wary.
I don't know what I'm going to have to do next month. My earnings atm might be a few hundred again. But that's not enough for me to live off... I'll be dipping into the little savings I have left just to cover my outgoings. And I'm 'one of the lucky ones', so to speak (albeit I don't feel very lucky when it comes to having received any assistance at all from the government or help in any form financially despite having lost a significant amount of work - because I had the sheer audacity to go fully self-employed in April 2019 rather than April 2018).
