Yes they are dropping, and the daily number of tests are going up too. Plus new hospitalisations are gong down too which is very encouraging.

But we're still seeing thousands of new cases every day and that isn't good when we are what, 5 weeks into our lockdown. It shows, to me at any rate, that the social distancing measures are not fully working. Also it's far too many to even contemplate contact tracing and we need to get this introduced asap as part of any measures to loosen the lockdown.
The only reason why the infection numbers are increasing is because testing is increasing. We had no testing before so it was only the hospital cases that we could go from.

Let me ask you this. Is the increased numbers.of cases possibly by people who are already self isolating and are asymptomatic?

The actual hospital numbers are down. Which means the risk factor is.dropping. the only way to know for sure is to test everyone in the country all within the same time frame. Otherwise its guesswork.

I still think slow opening is the best option. No social gatherings , limited visiting people , shops limited to customers much like supermarkets and go from there. Can't open everywhere up at once but allowing people to see family again , businesses to start back up at a reduced rate (if they so wish) and cancelling all big events for the foreseeable is the best course of action

I still find it astonishing the Govt are not releasing a weekly total of deaths in care homes, they are sitting on that info because it's a scandal, we may never get to know the true total, stinks of a Tory cover up.
This is where the true shame lies
Unfortunately its the same all over europe
Care homes will need a major re think when this is all over
Profit cannot be allowed to be the major consideration any more

Thats for 4 homes

Joey illegal immigration will not skew the numbers massively
Do you honestly think there are millions of illegals in Britain
@COYBL25
I am fkd now
Pity because my success rate was fairly high until now

Here goes :

He’s spent that much time swimming naked in his goldfish pond, he’s developed wonderfully webbed feet and the only way to get rid of them, is by sprinkling salt on them.

Pete Price has been helping him and the wife plant young lettuces, ( I’d pay for photos of that ) using a long pointy stick known in the gardening trade as a dibber ?

What a wonderful idea.

Please allow me to be first in line to catch an illness that could potentially kill me.

I might practice by crossing roads without looking both ways or driving everywhere at 100mph.

Great idea Chris.

Which is the scary thing isnt it considering how many more folk will die from deadlier forms of illness in the attempt at not catching something that statistically will give you mild symptoms if you are not old or have health conditions.

Out of having Covid-19 or cancer I would take my chances with Covid-19 every day of the week.
I think that is a one eyed irresponsible view on a very serious situation .Not everything is black or white .Of course there are people at less risk than others but it is the passing on of something you might have to a person at greater risk that is the problem .Not to be unfair but cancer is not contagious and I think your comparison shows you in a true light ,that of a very selfish, narrow minded ,inconsiderate person and you should really think hard about yourself.

They've had pressure for the past 3 weeks which has died down a bit now, and still they have not given an official total, all deaths are recorded on a database, there are no excuses, a 90% accurate weekly total should be well within their means.

North of 35K dead is my opinion, Care england who are the governing body for care homes estimated around 10k deaths about 10 days ago, no wonder they are suppressing it, worst figure of any country in Europe if the truth comes out.

Oh shut up you melon - the post I was responding to is that some people who have signs of serious illness such as cancer, heart problems etc are staying at home rather than getting tested at hospitals in fear of catching the virus.

So if you start peeing blood I take it you'll do the noble and apparantly right thing and stay at home and die terminally just so you dont potentially catch a virus - hmmm of course you would m8.

I can see what he’s getting at here, but some otherwise totally healthy people will die if exposed to Coronavirus, albeit rarely. I think any idea of this nature would have to come with very thorough prior medical examination as a pre-condition.

Not a chance id be doing it, but suppose I might think differently if I was single and didn’t have an underlying condition.

"Maximum possible transparency" The "possible" bit doesn't fill me with much confidence.
I think total transparency can be harmful. For instance, I'm pretty sure the structure of our NHS and Civil service has not been conducive to helping deal with this virus, especially logistically. There's also no doubt an element of protectionism in both organisations and we've already seen this with the testing and the initial reluctance to utilise private enterprise. I think it would be totally wrong for the Government to expose these shortfalls, which would happen once people started to drill down on blame.

Have you heard the one heard the quote about " empty barrels" ? the more you post the more you show how little you understand . If someone is "showing signs" of heart problems then they should stay away as they are in a high risk group and the drugs they take for some cancers lower your resistance to infection so they again should stay clear .
As said before it is not a black or white there is a middle ground ,you can have treatment without putting yourself at risk.

Nobody is totally immune from dying from this, nobody.
