The only reason why the infection numbers are increasing is because testing is increasing. We had no testing before so it was only the hospital cases that we could go from.Yes they are dropping, and the daily number of tests are going up too. Plus new hospitalisations are gong down too which is very encouraging.
But we're still seeing thousands of new cases every day and that isn't good when we are what, 5 weeks into our lockdown. It shows, to me at any rate, that the social distancing measures are not fully working. Also it's far too many to even contemplate contact tracing and we need to get this introduced asap as part of any measures to loosen the lockdown.
Let me ask you this. Is the increased numbers.of cases possibly by people who are already self isolating and are asymptomatic?
The actual hospital numbers are down. Which means the risk factor is.dropping. the only way to know for sure is to test everyone in the country all within the same time frame. Otherwise its guesswork.
I still think slow opening is the best option. No social gatherings , limited visiting people , shops limited to customers much like supermarkets and go from there. Can't open everywhere up at once but allowing people to see family again , businesses to start back up at a reduced rate (if they so wish) and cancelling all big events for the foreseeable is the best course of action
