A lot of places and the upper echelons don`t trust their staff to work from home, it`s as simple as that.

They have this image of someone lounging around in their pyjamas all day and doing next to nothing.

When I worked from home, I found that I got much more done, but my working day was spread out due to the flexibility it afforded.

After over three years of it, the lack of interaction with people started to drive me mad though.

It`s got many good points, but ultimately it can become very lonely.

You`re heating bills go up massively in the Winter too.
Yeah. Back in the day I had the ability to work from home but only did so if I had a backlog of processing/paperwork. I found I was 2/3 times more productive at home and I think it was down to lack of travelling and also interaction with other staff. If I did it for any length of time you'd start to miss the camaraderie and banter

Aren't most estimates putting the mortality at around 2%?

If that's true around 20,000 deaths in hospitals. I think I heard they reckon about 50% are happening in cares homes so let's guess 10,000 roughly.

If mortality rate is around 2% then 50*30,000 = 1,500,000 infected people across the UK.

Not really that high a percentage 'if' the mortality estimate is anywhere near true,
I think the CMO was estimating about 0.5%-1% but who knows? Even at 0.5% that equates to a small percentage of the population having been infected.

Call me a moaning get but is anybody else fed up with celebrities in there 2 million pound mansions doing silly things to cheer me up?
Of course it is nothing to do with self publicity or there own egos worrying that we will all forget who they are.
Just give us your money you barstewards then walk round the block go to Sainsbury queue up for a hour with your gloves and mask on get home crack a can open and wait for tomorrow.
To sum up I don't need cheering up I am quite happy wallowing in my own misery at home talking to the people that matter to me.

Oh deffo mate. "We're all in this together" as they munch down on a piece of Lobster followed by a massive glug of their 2 grand bottle of champagne before sliding into a swimming pool.

I think this has been a trend anyways but this will just dramatically accelerate things. Can see several organisations using the same office space on different days of the week. I also imagine that housing in rural areas will become more sought after with people needing to commute less.
You would think that disused office space could be altered to be used for housing.
My work has said for years it’s impossible to work from home, then this happens and we’re all suddenly able to do so.

Because working at home has been a success from a council perspective, my missus (she works for a council and is working from home) was saying that some councils are already talking about people working from home some of the time when things get back to normal.

Yeah this would make total sense for councils that are having to cut costs.

Your missus a key worker mate?

Sure I would local authority workers are classed as such.

If NI figures are representative of the rest of the UK, then 60% of RIPs are happening in hospital, 35% in Residential Care, 5% in the community.

Pretty much, if not just short of European averages in settings.
Probably wham, but I was looking at a graph yesterday that, iirc, had roughly 50pc hospital, and home and care almost split equally, with care having the edge.

Personally mate for the last two weeks ive held the belief there are 2 Pandemics.

One In for the general population and one in residential care homes amongst our older people. I think its really important to separate those two populations, impact and the unique measures required.

There is an absolute war going on in residential care/nursing homes and almost every country has neglected it, to our shame, far worse then what is going on in the general population and i think it will be our generations shame.

It's fair to suggest it's now generally accepted that there varying values of life now in the UK. If you are recipient of care and not actively economic, then look over your shoulder on a regular basis.
