Anyone else feel like the government is probably testing less than they could now because they are making sure they have the stocks to do a couple of days worth of 100k tests a day for the end of the month, just to say we hit our target?

I don't know why I am so cynical tbh...

Hancock blaming people for 'not coming for a test'. Code for don't blame me for not reaching the 100 000 a day tests, it's the public's fault.

Matt Hancock: 'Not as many people coming for a test as expected'
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said the new online booking system will be key to the government reaching its target of 100,000 coronavirus tests a day by the end of the month.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, he said: “Not as many people have been coming for (a test) as we had expected.

“Of course that was a problem but its a good problem because it means we’ve been able to expand who can get a test faster than we had planned.”

The test centre were to far away for most people and now it is still only key/essential workers who have symptoms. Not ever worker, which is an incredibly limiting criteria.
Typical of that rat.

Kill the people, then blame survivors for not dragging themselves hundreds of miles to his mythical 100,000 test per day facilities.

Lower than vermin.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all.

If I take myself as an example, a few weeks ago I experienced some mild chest pains and a cough over a period of about a week, where if I went on a long walk or jog I would feel tight chested. It went away and I haven’t had the experience since.

As somebody who lives in Hertfordshire which was heavily hit by the initial outbreak, and with a nurse who works at a hospital which at one point was full of Covid patients, I wonder if we’ve both already had the virus. There must be massive amounts of people in London who are in the same boat.

A vaccine for this will come out just after the cures for cancer and the common cold - It isn't happening

Other countries are publishing detailed exit strategies whilst we cross our fingers

Newsnight had a report from Sweden last night. It's clear that - though they remain committed to their open policy - there are some doubts and dissent on continuing with it. There's a claim in there about extent of exposure to the virus too.

Interesting chat with my Da this morning who works for a company that maintains a lot of Unilever buildings across the globe. Apparently Unilever have said that this has shown them that home working is far more viable than thought, likely will reduce size of buildings and also conduct more meetings via electronic methods going forward. If it’s a trend that continues and spreads the value of commercial properties could massively shrink over the next few years, as well as travel between sites.

I’m hearing that senior officials in the public sector here in NI are now realising that agile working is the way forward. We’re generally a few years behind the GB civil service in terms of reform, but i wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of expensive government buildings were offloaded in the not too distant future.

I'm not comparing them as conditions - Just as an example that science doesn't fix everything
The virus certainly outpaced our ability to respond. I would be hopeful that a workable vaccine can be found based on comments from the scientists working on them. It’s unlikely that any such vaccine will be ready before the virus has moved through a significant proportion of the population though.
