See Oxford Uni are confident of developing a vaccine which could be in place by September.

Question to everyone. If it was rolled out would you sign up?

Im going to say no. Im not an anti vaxxer at all, but the long term effects of this will be unknown. If I end up in intensive care then its a no brainer but I think thats the only circumstance I would say yes.

Me personally as a “healthy” 30 year old with no underlying health conditions no.

If I was 70 with COPD and diabetes etc then I’d probably think differently.

You said you accepted you misunderstood the issue, Thats sound. You wont afford the same luxury to scientists and the Government.

And also, what comparison/choice? At the time of writing, this thing isnt finished. You are writing your match report after the first 15 minutes of the game.
They should most certainly be held to a higher standard than lads on the internet, they are supposed to be medical and geo-political experts with absolutely the best information available to them

i don't think you can vaccinate for something after you have caught it

So your ok with potentially murdering every single person over 60 you meet?

Interesting.

Well I never really said anything like that did I mate, more along the lines of if I personally was 70 with underlying health conditions I’d have a big decision to make.

He's at his Chequers Country Club biding his time and being briefed by his fellow rats what the right time will be to come back to exploit any encouraging news that the worst is passed for now.
Surely if he reappears just as some good news lands the penny drops on the charade that is Boris Johnson.

Yeah I just struggle with having any decision to make really mate.

If you dont vaccinate you can catch it and potentially die or you can catch it and pass it on to your parents and hundreds of other people who could potentially die.

Wheres the decision?

If the vaccine is effective and it reduces transmission rates you could argue it is an individuals social obligation to get it done

Yeah agreed, I didn’t think of that being honest and answered from a purely personal and selfish point of view.

Unfortunately there’s no clear or easy way out of this, certainly don’t envy those medics at the top making the coming decisions that’s for sure.

I see the WHO are reporting that unfortunately the Remdesivir trial in China has failed.
Patients showed no improvement and presence of the virus in the bloodstream was not diminished.
Also significant side effects were experienced in a fair number of patients.

A vaccine only works as a response to this if enough of the population receive it.

I’d be first in the queue then straight down the pub.
If taking it helps reduce transmission rates I'd be well up for it, you have no idea how many lives might saved however we are getting transmission rates down, whether that's staying inside, being responisible while at the supermarket or getting a vaccine

We saw what was happening in Italy and we did nothing.

We could have locked down when they did and we would have 000s less deaths and we might well be on the road to re-opening, but instead Boris the Butcher was shaking hands and going on holiday.
Yup. When Italy took the unprecedented step of shutting half their country we should have acted immediately if not before then. Instead our politicians didn’t want to believe what they were seeing and dithered, costing thousands of lives. Other countries took immediate and decisive action and this has resulted in lower death tolls. These are fairly simple facts. Our politicians are elected to make decisions on our behalf, for our benefit, and they failed when it mattered. Surprised people are trying to dispute this to be honest.
