I agree it's alarming. I have loved ones in exactly this position and it's very difficult to know just how many changes they should make to their lives.

I think there's something we have to realise about our globalised world. It's next to impossible to close the borders to a virus. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...hat-the-1918-flu-teaches-us-about-coronavirus

Don't know if you saw this before, but it's worth a read to at least get an idea of what's informing UK response:
A little-known team of advisers to Number 10 are "trying, in a way that hasn’t been done before".

Why doesn't that fill me with confidence?

A 'behavioural team' to oversee this, which is right in line with the way this lot have chosen a bunch of small government cultists to guide the economy and steer the country in general.

I feel being an obsessive hypochondriac is not ideal right now.

I'm in bed feeling like crap, usually you'd just think ok last a few days - a week perhaps and all will be fine, but now I'm thinking should I get tested so I know if I can't leave the house? Even though I haven't done anything that should have put me in contact with someone with it and you don't want to frivolously waste the NHS' time.

I'm not going anywhere anyhow so will see if I feel worse tomorrow.

It's one of them as well. How can you both self-isolate if you think you might have it AND go get tested to find out exposing others to it? Such a connundrum.

Phoning 111 is probably the best bet. Don't go into a surgery!

I had flu the second week of January. Haven't been ill like that for years. It hit me like a ****ing train, fever, bed, aches and pains and it lingered, I got better thought it was all over then wham! got worse again it came back and I was coughing and sneezing again. It had ran through my family, including elderly relatives who had the flu shot. It's taken me some time to get back into the swing of things. Have had very little energy, getting back to the gym was a big effort, have lost weight etc.

As this has gone no I've half wondered if this could've been circulating undetected and I'd got an early dose. Chances are that it wasn't though so you may have what I had. I looked online and this years flu was quite a strong one. Certainly what I had was no fun. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hope you're alright mate

Not to mention there is still no shared immunity for most of China, so it will almost certainly spread again.

Chances are, when China really start to relax their restrictions, it'll flare up in other places there and they'll go through a similar cycle to what we've seen in Wuhan.

I suspect varying population densities in different countries, and areas within countries will be be part of the driver of determining different countries responses to the virus.
