Bit late to be raising this now, they are all here ffs. Apparently Madrid has the fastest growing contagion rate in the world at the moment

It's perhaps also worth remembering that even in Italy, for every million people in their country, 999,832 aren't infected.

Yes, it is all deeply worrying but this is the other side of it.

I hope their belated measures start to have an effect sooner rather than later, at least that would follow on from the Chinese experience (if credible) that there is a way out of this, however draconian.

After not having been sick with any type of virus or cold in sixteen years, I was knocked out for a week in 2010 by the swine flu. Once I rejoined the land of the living I found that the urge to smoke had somehow been knocked clean out of me. A 28 year habit eliminated in the course of a week. Not what I expected from the swine flu.

Consequently, if I come down with coronavirus I fully expect to come out of it six inches taller and movie-star handsome.

I had the good fortune to have to wait in arrivals at Budapest airport for 3 and a half hours back in early february as 2 planes from China emptied out. 4 days later I was absolutely on my arse for 5 days with fever, shakes, coughing to hard I threw up, 40c temperature... I'm in half a mind that I've already had it. Didn't cure any of my vices, sadly.

Alas. Well, better luck next time!

A week after the first death at the nursing home in Washington they still haven’t tested all the patients, staff and emergency personnel despite many showing symptoms. Trump’s friends get tested without even a cough.

Yeah, testing seems to be crucial in reducing the impact of the virus, if South Korea is anything to go by. Both of our countries are reacting far too slow to this...

Announce £30b to save the country and business from going tits up due to the virus, yet the advice is still just to was your hands.

Just can't get me head round it.

Especially when it's airborne, I mean it helps, but surely now we should have learned some lessons off the Chinese, like building pop up hospitals as such. All seems so complacent from the government, especially as your Health bloody minister has just caught it.

Omagine thosw who havent been tested, the numbers are going to keep doubling daily

I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me has posted this already, but the natural growth rate is roughly 15%* daily, so any numbers lower than this show containment* is working, and any numbers higher than this shows your old data was incorrect and there are more cases in the wild than known. So for US cases, daily increase yesterday was roughly 500, from 500 to 1,000. But since we know that the rate of increase is 15%, it is more likely we had 3,000 cases yesterday and 3,500 today. Still incomplete data, but a better guess.

*I remember reading 33%, but the numbers work out to 15% if it doubles every 6 days
**That is, whenever jurisdictions take actions to contain the spread.

Did you get tested?
