Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Was chatting to a mate last night and he said pubs and restaurants in Germany will most likely be shut till August 31st. Makes sense but mad times ahead if true. Going to be a very strange summer.

They shut them a couple of weeks after most places, however. Not sure if that has any bearing.

Incidentally all the music festivals over here (and city festivals) are cancelled. My inability to book us onto any of them looks like a masterstroke now.

Some nonsense about a great cultural loss doing the rounds. Economic loss yes, but I'm not sure not having it that Kings of Leon fly in to plod their way through an hour at Werchter represents a great loss to Europes cultural enlightenment.

Has any bearing on what?
Similar here all large events cancelled, had a few gigs postponed to next year. Supposed to be going to a gig in the Netherlands in Oct but wouldn't be surprised if that gets cancelled/postponed too

Any bearing on them staying closed. I meant.

I still have one show in the diary this summer that hasn't been cancelled and that's in a 100 capacity place at the end of June.

Thats kind of an acid test for me as to whether I'll be able to go the pub this summer.

Also, I'm hopeful the 4 of us will be able to get in a room and practice next month.

Slightly off on a tangent but apparently music streaming is only up 0.4% which is odd.

Yeah at the moment I'm sort of expecting rules on size of groups allowed to meet to be relaxed come summer. I'm not optimistic it will be up to 100 but here's hoping.

Family opposite me, Mum and two teenagers. Mum and Dad are separated, so Dad lives elsewhere. He turned up yesterday afternoon and took one of the teenagers out for a driving lesson, gone about an hour. Came back and he then drove away. Is this acceptable? Should we be reporting incidents like this? Hoping the experts on here can advise.

Sunday Times reporting we sent nearly 300k of PPE to China last month, Gove was just interviewed on Sky about it and I've never seen him so rattled and evasive, definitely some truth in it.

Boris failed to attend 5 Cobra meetings at the start on this pandemic.

"A senior adviser to Downing Street blamed a failure of leadership in Cabinet - and singled out the Prime Minister - for the "lost" weeks and complacency leading up to the epidemic.
The adviser, who wasn't named, told the Sunday Times: “There’s no way you’re at war if your PM isn’t there.
"And what you learn about Boris was he didn’t chair any meetings. He liked his country breaks. He didn’t work weekends."

Traditional Tory values selling PPE, basic supply and demand.

No that's not acceptable but whether you report is up to you.

Under 18? Could well depend on the routine of child and parent responsibility arrangements.

I thought kids can be switched between parents?

Even so it's hard to report after the event and just be your word against his unless they can be caught in the act. More likely create trouble for you afterwards though, just stay away from them!

The Turkey shipment now being reported to being delayed. Yet another taskforce being set up which should have been done months' ago.
