The professor also said, "Bat coronaviruses are collected and studied by laboratories in multiple parts of China — including Wuhan Municipal CDC and Wuhan Institute of Virology,” and “the first human infection also could have occurred as a laboratory accident, with a virus accidentally infecting a laboratory worker.”
Ebright further noted: “There also is clear precedent for this: The second, third, fourth, and fifth entries of the SARS virus into human populations occurred as a laboratory accident in Singapore in 2003, a laboratory accident in Taipei in 2003, and two separate laboratory accidents in Beijing in 2004.”
Also from the one article that seems to constitute your research:
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, also called for closing these wildlife markets down, saying, “What we are going through right now is a direct result of that.”

The Lancet, a medical journal, published a study from Chinese researchers concluding that most, but likely not all, early cases of the novel coronavirus could be tied to the Wuhan wet market.

Secondly, where did SARS v1, the one that was being studied in the labs that the bit you quoted, where did that come from?

My bet for first day of easing lockdown measures – May 18th.

A lot of that will (and should) depend on how the European countries get on with easing their lockdowns in the next few weeks.

In BJ's absence, they really should only let Sunak and Raab hold the briefings.

And it's not saying much, like, considering how crap Raab is.

"Every time i come to this Lecter"

Freudian slip from Raab the psycho there.

People have asked for clarity though (someone on Twitter earlier posted a vid of Merkel explaining numbers in terms of infection rates etc) and Raab has at least done that.

Hancock needs shoving in a bin.

Boris will be outside Chequers clapping the NHS at 8pm.
Then he will be back in charge next week Id say.

I hadnt a clue about any of this stuff till now, but the below 1 figure is encouraging.

It is mate.

CMO has just said they're not 100% sure how far below 1 it is, but there'll be no changes to social distancing measures until they know for sure.

First question, from LK, just an utter waste. Asking when the measures will be lifted when Raab has spent a few minutes detailing just why they have to carry on and why they can't put a date on it yet.

She's saying other countries are, but without any reference that these countries are two-three weeks ahead of us. FFS.

In France, the old who Macron said he wants them to stay in isolation until cure happens, no matter how long, have came out and told him after May 11th they ll go out like everyone else or otherwise he can arrest them and can expect millions of ageism claims and violation of french laws against the elderly ;-) The other high risk categories have said the same ;-)
Where did you see this? I'm old and live in France and would like to know. As far as I'm concerned, come mid-May, if Macron can produce masks for everyone as he promised, I'll risk going out and about in uncrowded places. I can't contemplate getting back to a full social life again until a vaccination is offered.
