Firefighters helping move bodies in West Midlands

A Body Movement Team has begun moving bodies from hospitals, care homes and private properties as the region around Birmingham feels the strain from the virus.

They are working 12-hour day and night shifts moving and handling bodies, and placing the deceased into body bags," said the Fire Brigades Union.

"All personnel will have appropriate training and PPE, including a face mask with a reusable respirator designed for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) response," said the union.

I wonder if they’re working overtime...

Being sensible though, it’s fairly common for groups within the police, fire and ambulance services to have undertaken disaster recovery training.

Have all the people dying been ill for nearly a month and then died - or are new deaths coming about post-lockdown measures?!

The virus is still spreading mate, its not even close to an effective lockdown, people are still working, shopping, strolling around.

Distancing should be more than just standing apart from each other. The virus will hang around on surfaces, can travel in the air for more than 2metres.

Its working mate, but sadly unless everybody walks around with gloves and face masks it will sadly still spread.

Without social distancing I suspect we would be in the 000s per day.

In fairness, major media outlets (eg: CNN) are currently running stories on this as apparently the US intelligence apparatus is actively investigating the theory (thus far without result).

The notion that the Chinese would let this get out on their own soil deliberately to wreck Western economies is completely insane. The risks are way too high; you could easily do more damage to yourself than your targets, and how do you guarantee the absolute silence needed for the participants to avoid overthrow, war crimes trials and execution? Seriously entertaining this notion suggests poor reasoning capacity.

The escape-from-lab story is plausible, but doesn't mesh well with other things that we know. Expert opinion seems to be that a lab product would have telltale sequencing markers that this lacks. The hypotheses that the Chinese researchers knew this and chose to mimic natural origin (risking the efficacy of the resulting bioweapon), or that the experts are broadly somehow beholden to China are sustainable, but sufficiently unbelievable that they require proof.

That's probably worthy of investigation, but I don't know what you'd do about it if we learned that the origin was a lab error rather than natural. Josh Hawley wants to make it possible to sue the Chinese for reparations, but good luck getting said reparations without a war. That's going to prove true for most "punishment" options here.

You mean the administration lead by the man that started the birther movement, said thousands of Muslims celebrated in the street after 9/11 and that has been of late desperately trying to blame the chaos in the US on anybody and everybody has picked up and run with a conspiracy theory his base is already spouting?

CNN isnt reporting that there is evidence the virus is man made. They are simple reporting what they have been told by the administration. They also report every time the administration says the are working on an infrastructure plan

When presented with evidence not suppositions, I will listen.

In a way yes, but there’s a bit more to it that that. This is a fair but simplistic view of it.

Mandatory vaccination is their greatest fear and part of their conspiracy Doomsday.

It takes a long time for the numbers of deaths to start to fall. It can take a number of weeks for those who fall ill to, horrifically, pass away.

The early indication of whether the social distancing measures are working is the number of new infections. If the increase is steady or slowing down then the lockdown is slowing the spread.

PPE only works if people use it for its use. I see idiots everyday get out of the car with their cute little gloves and mask, touch everything in the store, touch the shopping cart, get money out, and get right back into the car with all the same stuff on.

Where are the daily figures on this? Would be more helpful if they used this rather than deaths IMO
