A doctor who specialised in treating the elderly has died after testing positive for Covid-19.
Dr Anton Sebastianpillai died after being admitted to Kingston Hospital in south-west London, the same hospital he worked at.
It is believed he came out of retirement to help the NHS.
"It is with great sadness that I confirm the death of a consultant geriatrician who was part of the team at Kingston Hospital," a spokeswoman for Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said.
"Dr Anton Sebastianpillai died on Saturday having been cared for in the hospital's intensive care unit since 31 March.
"We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family."

How sad, when it really mattered those in this profession who had served their time caring for people, came back to do what they could and I believe this may be the first "retiree" who chose to return who suffered the ultimate sacrifice

May he Rest in Peace

Expect Boris to make a ‘miraculous’ recovery within the next few days, having ‘proved’ to the public that the lockdown is justified.

To be fair most people are quite happy to be sat at home as long as the government are covering their wages so this whole pantomime is to their benefit as well.
You call it a "Pantomime" ??

I can assure you that's it's not.

Some peoples whole industry has disappeared overnight and they don't qualify for handouts. Stupidest comment I've seen for ages. Well done.

Kev the (something that rhymes with rat).

Unfair, maybe.

I’ll give you the benefit that you’re suffering with lockdown frustration.

I work in travel, and we've just been told that hundreds of people have been stood down in our company.

Given the world situation, obviously it's hardly surprising, but I'm absolutely gutted for my work friends. My job is safe (at least for the moment), but I'm having terrible feelings of survivor guilt.

An emergency coalition government should be step up. This is a national emergency. To tackle the imminent dangers ahead, PPE for health care workers, acquiring medical equipment and tackling the mental and economic fallout. These issues have to be confronted. And I don't believe one political party can deliver on that.

Similarly in the US, political rhetoric is meaningless faced with the onslaught of a pandemic. Republics, democracies only mean something when they can defeat and rise above threats. At the moment we are losing.

We're losing because we are entrenched in our petty political squabbles. Working together here is the only option. The vacuum of leadership is widening and it will result in, increasing the numbers of lives.

What I am noticing is the huge disparity between how the US recognizes their armed forces and UK. The Armed forces are doing exactly the same in the UK and the Police but somehow that's not recognized in the same way.

Is that what happens when Marxists infiltrate your education system? They teach you soviet history over your own. I don't know. It's just seems strange.

I would think that those guys and girls deserve a round of applause as well.
