Absolutely horrible. Hopefully Johnson recovers but if he doesn't we would have a serving PM without a funeral service outside of closest family, nevermind a state funeral. Unprecedented times.

Its very rare for them to have a state funeral (IIRC only Churchill and Wellington got one after being PM*), but yes having only immediate family there would be hard on them.

I mean, even just for the sake of the country, you really should care.

Either way, if he pulls through or not, then he's out of action for a while and we have people even more inept to step up by the looks of it. Grim.

I want to but just cant because of the comments he made such as "take it on the chin" and "operation last gasp" when many other people were dying. He shown such complete disregard as he obviously thought he was immune to such a thing.

As I said, I wouldnt wish him dead but also wont bat an eyelid if he goes. My empathy goes out to everyone else

I think (in normal times) you would probably get one if you die whilst in the job. Afterwards of course you are right, highly unlikely.

I detest Johnson's policies and those of his party but wouldn't wish ill-health on anyone, and whilst his apparent obsession with appearing Churchillian is all well and good, playing Jesus and boasting about shaking hands with coronavirus patients appears to be costing him dearly.

The problem with coronavirus is that you can go downhill very quickly. Family friend walked into hospital unaided with coronavirus. He was put on a ventilator within 24 hours and died within 20 hours.
