It's not that bizarre. Taiwan isn't a sovereign country and by the UN standards, which effectively the WHO is agency of, only sovereign states can 'enjoy' membership in the UN; you have to be internationally recognised as an independent country to get membership and as China doesn't recognise Taiwan, the UN doesn't, so neither does the WHO and the reporting on behalf of Taiwan was done by PRC.

This isn't about politics and he isn't a politician though.

And to blatantly lie in the interview too.

It's not right. They're meant to be about saving lives, not playing a political game.

When I went to Taiwan I don’t remember asking China if I could do so. I also don’t remember meeting any Chinese officials on the way in or the way out......Just because China refuses to recognise Taiwan does not mean it is not a sovereign country. China also refuses to accept the Judgement decisions of a UN tribunal in respect of the South China Sea, but it doesn’t mean they are right.....

A video doing the rounds of a London hospital and the amount of body bags they have stacked up.

If that's genuine.. that's just shocking.

Just because China do not actively govern Taiwan that doesn't mean it's recognised as a sovereign nation. Very few countries recognise Taiwan as a de jure sovereign nation.

I agree, but as you say, a few actually do, as do the Taiwanese people....all 24,000,000 of them, in fact a bigger Population than 24 Individual EU countries.....They will be recognised again one day.....
