The should be able to get the £10k grant and the staff furloughed. If they can retain the premises the supply chain will come back as indeed will their staff. The council should be phoning them to give a code to access the grant. If the council don’t get in touch they should write to them or give them a call. They will need support, perhaps financially but certainly from family who need to help them keep their spirits up. Banks will help if they can get through. This will not go on forever and business will return and when it does it will be higher than before for a couple of weeks as people regain their freedom. Whatever happens please don’t let them throw their hard work away....
The business went before the furlough scheme was announced but they are looking into it I believe. Obviously it's created a lot of stress. They had three staff members - part time - so they are wanting to get them back if possible.
I know it's just an example and obviously it's one close to home for me. I'll pass on the advice.
Just think treating the long-term impacts of this flippantly is as dangerous as treating the short-term advice flippantly too. I'll leave it at that as I'm not looking to pick a fight with anyone!
