Hmm, not too hot on the idea of judging a family who just lost their 13 year old child. Obviously donating the rest would have been nice but we don’t know what kind of financial situation they are in etc. Id personally save the judgement for the thousands of wronguns who abuse gofundme for personal gain.
It was set up the same day.

Oh and the small information that the government will pay for the funeral as per policy from a few years back. So they don't need a penny for costs.

So this is 100% profiting off their child's death. At a time when many people are losing loved ones and not putting go fund me pages on every media platform for money for the family.

This is why I don't think you can separate the political aspect of this from the overall situation.

The government’s initial controversial policy of mitigation focused on the elderly and vulnerable, and mass testing was a secondary concern. At the point the government shifted its strategy to suppressing the virus and decided to roll out testing, it was already playing catchup. The government had made no preparations to increase the supply of testing kits or expand laboratory capacity – and the UK found itself at the back of the line in a global queue for tests.

The above happened. It was a political choice made by the Conservatives. It was a shocking decision that was rightly called out far and wide.

The lack of testing and the development of the virus in this country is a direct consequence of what Dominic Cummings did - and by proxy, what Boris Johnson allowed him to do. It's extremely important to highlight this, just as it is to keep a laser focus of blame on China for starting all of this.

I have no political bias on this - I have no political home in the UK given Corbyn and Johnson are two sides of the same awful coin as far as I'm concerned. No, I simply recognise the importance of holding people in power to account for their actions.

I don't think there's any issue with criticising government actions, it's more the people who clearly do so no matter what actions are taken, in a way to attack the 'Tories' rather than government policy discussion.

It's clear as day to me the people who have that agenda and are posting here.

Alcohol sales now banned in Thailand and more seriously police shooting at civilians in Kenya. This is the imposition of a police state. The only question is are we prepared to accept that?

At this moment in time I don't feel like I'm living in a Police state and to tell you the truth round where I live I've seen no more Police on the streets than normal.

My biggest concern is those people grassing on others and wasting Police time.

I think you're bang out of order to be honest.

They didn't even set the fundraiser up, and the media picking up on the page has seen the donations grow massively. That's not their fault.

Maybe they can't afford their sons funeral?

So apparently the main symptom is infact loss of taste and smell.

In fact, the main symptoms are not a loss of taste and smell.

"a loss of smell or taste may be a sign that you have coronavirus"

"And experts say fever and cough remain the most important symptoms of the virus to look out for and act upon "

Try not to peddle too much misinterpreted information please.

Who do you think told the media about the fundraiser to begin with?

As the funeral is paid for by the state, they need no money for it. So the fundraiser is under false pretences.

It was set up by the person who has spoken to the media about it. It's his quotes they are using. Why would anyone speak to the media about it so quickly?

You say I'm bang out of order but given the current circumstances , you think it's ok to ask for money for nothing basically? When they aren't the only people going through loss?
Maybe they can't afford their sons funeral?
Funeral is free as per government policy mat.e

im not sure you know how gofundme works. The family did not setup the account and the people who donate can see how much has already been donated... they will have been donating fully aware that the £4000 had been met thus there is nothing ethically wrong with them keeping the money.

Are you really going to begrudge a family of six who just lost their 13 year old son (shortly after losing their father to cancer) some extra income in a tough time ?

there are far worse things happening on go fund me than this

"Loss of sense of smell and taste is the most common indicator that you have had coronavirus, according to researchers.

Scientists at King's College London have been tracking symptoms of Covid-19 via their specially-created app.

By March 31, the Covid Symptom Tracker App had more than 1.8 million users sign up to log their symptoms, or lack thereof, daily.

Some 59% of the 1.5 million people who had signed up by March 29 and tested positive reported a loss of smell and taste, compared with 18% of those who tested negative, analysis of the data showed."

Game, set, match sir.

The bit about snitches is so real. The nosy holes around us seem to be on a mission to log your every movement. They don't need to say anything, you just feel their judgements. As far as I am concerned me and my missus are observing all the protocols about going out and so on. In my case I also go out every couple of days to check on a retired colleague who has no family to call on, has dementia, and although having carers go in a couple of times a day, are limited in what they can do. Again, observing all the distancing requirements.
I reckon once all this is over, there will be some scores being settled, the poisoned arseholes.

Game, set, match sir.

Slow down there partner. You can have exactly the same symptoms, with an allergy or for example the common cold. I'm not disagreeing with you, but the situation is fluid right now. We are literally learning something new everyday because this virus is unprecedented.

Your condition may start with that or it could start with a myriad of other symptoms.

Begrduge a family 50 grand for nothing?

Absolutely, there are thousands around the world dying , where are their 50 grand for their loss? How many working men/women who provided for their family?

Any other time this would be called out on so why not now?

It's disrespectful for every single family who are losing someone to this virus currently. Who cant even go and say goodbye to them in the final hours. It's horrible taste to even give the page to the media to advertise. So many people being affected right now but it's fine for one family to profit via a family friend and others under clearly a false pretence of funeral costs and cause of death?

Imagine if they donated money to prevent others suffering such a loss on this current time?

If this was just discovered by the media then a whole other story. But it was given to the media hence the quotes they have attached to it.

Should every single person who loses someone who loses someone set up a go fund me page?

Haven’t seen any police. But then again we never do. The cities can keep them......
