And it's relevant to Covid 19 to answer your question because. The Chinese government have, lied, lied again repeatedly. About the danger of this pandemic. Not only that, they deliberately hid it's impact. Naive government officials around the world believed them.

Now, as a consequence it looks like millions around the world are going to die.

So yes I think that's pretty relevant.
Millions won’t die because of this, it’s been here for 3 months possibly longer and the recorded death rate is 42,000 across the planet! 6 billion people! Half the world is now on some sort of lockdown now so I would expect to see a decline in the deaths everywhere during this month.

Every little helps. It also helps psychologically with a lot of people who are overly nervous. Makes them feel safer.

As long as people change them frequently and keep to their social distancing I don't see the harm

They just need to be sanitized really mate. But you are right it allows people to feel they are controlling the controllables, i think they really could become common place very shortly, especially after the initial surge and a degree of normality creeps back in, but to be effective, everyone has to do it and become a social norm, not that they are panacea, but likely a very effective defense if a community effort was made.

I suspect the advice is being kept under wraps at the moment as Health services and struggling to get masks and they dont want the general public stock piling, but there is growing evidence that a community effort with masks will become an important part of this.

Believe me Nymz, that won't matter to a lot of people. They see somebody having a sneezing fit and they'll be out the door in a flash. Even though it's probably just a bit of dust up their nose

I've got hayfever myself and the flowery smell was very strong yesterday on my run so it's only a matter of time.

That 13 year olds gofundme page has currently raised 54000 in a day of their 4000 total.

All extra will go to the family as per the update on the page.

Handy that the link is on every media platform right now........

Also handy they are keeping every penny rather than donating it to treatment for other patients of covid-19.......

That is a bit unfair to be honest mate, there is no need to put the first pictures PPE if you are not within 1 meter of patient or not in their room providing essential clinical care.

No 1 is full droplet precaution in the contact and care of a patient, no 2 is just general everyday contact precautions like with MRSA or CDIFF or more every day infections. The NHS will have plenty of 1. Ill have no 1 on in an hour, ours are yellow though.

They do need to be used sparingly though, we need to mind resources and give the supply chain a chance.

Can I ask you what do you think of the reports that Covid might still stay in a room, along corridors. After a patient has left?

Did you see India's version of lockdown? Hundreds of thousands clambering on board packed trains and buses to get back to their villages. Probably spreading the disease to previously uninfected areas that will also have minimal health facilities.

On top of that the disease is starting to hit Africa, at the peak of the malaria season, where many are suffering from malnutrition anyway, and where health facilities are practically none existent.

I agree in rich western countries you'll start to see a downturn but globally I can see it getting much worse.

Plus the eyes of the world are on China to see if they get a second hit

Ban people who I don't to hear. You're pathetic. I've generally tried to avoid politics and personal slurs. But if you wanna have a go, let's go.

Don't cry to the mods when your echo chamber get's interrupted. You've slung your fair share of abuse on here mate.
Out of interest mate, when was the last time you ever had fight?. Aye thought so. Stop your grandstanding. If you've got something to say link it.

OMG yes. What a meltdown

Hmm, not too hot on the idea of judging a family who just lost their 13 year old child. Obviously donating the rest would have been nice but we don’t know what kind of financial situation they are in etc. Id personally save the judgement for the thousands of wronguns who abuse gofundme for personal gain.

Its a good job that standard practice is to deep clean any room when a patient is discharged, the wards and corridors are regularly cleaned and disinfected, and all bedding and mattresses are removed, and packed up and sent for disinfection then.
