All I need to say is we have a brand new hospital here built under Labour and it's the first time ever this town has not had a 24hr NHS service, town of 45k and come 8pm you are dead if you have a serious illness basically, can you wait 30mins to get treatment for a heart attack or stroke?, that is the reality and that has happened up and down the land under the last 10 years of Tory rule.
You could have had that brand new hospital for a lot less money though. The problem is not that Labour built new hospitals, its how they were funded. This is a very old Guardian article now, but its still accurate:
For example, while the capital cost of rebuilding Calderdale Royal Hospital in Yorkshire is £64.6m, the scheme will end up costing Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust a total of £773.2m. Similarly, the cost of building the new Walsgrave district general hospital in Coventry will jump from an initial £379m to an eventual £4bn.
