Not an expert here Bruce or pulling down your statement, but isn't herd immunity only used it there is a vaccine ? Just repeating what ive heard on here really, but don't think it's been answered adequately.

There's no cure for it at the moment, so I'm not sure what the alternative is tbh. Locking people in their homes will probably kill just as many through poverty, depression and so on.

There's supposed to be people out tonight to clap the [Poor language removed] that's visting this upon us?

Funny the comparison with Portugal there. I have a friend in Lisbon. They locked down very quickly. No dumb gatherings at the beach. Partly to do with the proximity to Spain also. Apparently people were isolating before lockdown came into play. Elderly population also. As well as that, they have been told this will not be reviewed until April 17th.
Quick decisive action. Saw what was happening in Europe and took necessary measures. No ambiguity. So when people say that the politicians are blameless here, they are fundamentally and absolutely wrong. It’s all very well having ‘lol boris’ bounding about with all his kids that he doesn’t know about (lol) with a proven track record of being entirely unsuitable for public office but when it comes to it, he is utterly and woefully out of his depth and it has cost people their lives.

TBF there are a lot of very questionable claims in that study, not least the bit that says the Yanks will have 81000 deaths even though they still haven't locked down all over, the known problems with healthcare and Trump.

As soon as I saw it was in the Guardian I dismissed it......deaths seem to be following a trend....Sweden at 15% of U.K. population is still at slightly less than 10% of U.K. deaths and has been consistently for a few weeks... But whatever happens is what happens......

Delighted to read in the metro that MPs have been told that they can (read 'will') claim up to £10,000 each to work from home.

I think that's reasonable given the price of (gaming) laptops, heating and lighting a country estate for a few months and given the fact that they probably don't already have a laptop. Oh and never forget we're all in this together.

I wonder if the forgetful electorate will be reminded of this by the billionaire owned media before the next election.

The nation is shamed and shocked by the severity of this outbreak. Other countries sending aid.

"The 5th largest economy in the world" the BS artists in the Brexit obsessed Tory cult repeatedly told us. Well where's that got us now?

Build the gallows high for this lot.
