I was wanting Colombia to win, but not unhappy that the Argies won. Was a great game though but a shame that Yerry miss his penalty

The gamesmanship from that goalie Martinez was outrageous. The ref tried to do something about it but the cat was out of the bag and the goalie just carried on. If I'd have been ref I'd have red carded him and then smashed him in the chops for being so disrespectful. The Colombians sadly were out psyched. Did well overall though.
Hopefully England don't suffer the same fate tonight.

Let’s hope Colombia win the third place game and end their tournament on a high, is gutting they lost that shootout, but on the other hand would like to see Messi win an international tournament.

Colombia will always be at this rate the only team to win the competition in which they won all their matches and never conceded a goal. That was when Honduras replaced Argentina and got to the semis I think.

I first became aware of the Copa when in 1995, Sky Sports decided to show every match. I used to stay up late watching the games, loads of brilliant matches though I said Venezuela should have entered a play-off with another weak team to play in the tournament.

For me it was more that he continued to do it as the player was taking the pen. Amazed the ref allowed it tbh.

Good question for the modern game. Are there, not sure. Watered down maybe. Gamesmanship is usually well disguised, as seen by the master of this genre, Don Revie and his Leeds side in the 60s and 70s. But this was blatant.

The ref is in control of behaviour on the pitch and I would suggest that this cowboys behaviour was out of order and could surely be seen as foul play. Gamesmanship to the max. Maybe there are some rules in place but aren't often utilized. The ref did have a word with him but was ignored by rock faced goalie. Martinez and his trash talk certainly won the game by a dodgy underhand process. Maybe the watershed moment and bring some change to the rules in cases like this.

Martinez was very disrespectful and belittling at times. I don’t get such behavior and lack of sportsmanship by some footballers. He should have gotten a card but the referees were unfair towards Colombia throughout the whole tournament so it is not surprising.

Im glad England didn’t suffer the same fate that Colombia did and hopefully they will win be the Euro champions!
