CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Spot on.

What a lot of people forget is that Everton were one of the key 5 clubs that broke away from the Football League and created the Premier League in the first place. It wasn't your Citys or your Chelseas back then. It was us, Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs. We were a key player as we entered the early 1990s; we'd even won more league titles than Man Utd at that point.

I really resent the constant 'punching above our weight' and 'you shouldn't be expecting to win stuff' and 'we're only Everton after all' patronising marginalisation that goes on.

Exactly. Spot on.

Moyes shops in the biggest market of them all ie not quite good enough for the top.

He's had the advantage of time to peruse, scout, check, double check before making a decision Arteta, Lescott and Pienaar are the only ones to date deemed worthy of poaching one is hardly pulling up trees in the worst Arsenal in Wenger's era the other 2 became squad players both wanting to return to Butlins, which Pienaar managed.
 mental

Lot of guessing and assumptions there.

There's loads of that coming from both sides really, none of us know the truth.

Personally, i think he'll go if he gets what he deems a better offer, thats what he's holding out for.

But if he doesn't then its not a case of him not wanting to be here and quitting so he'd also accept staying here.

And if he does stay, not a damn thing will change, he will work under the exact same financial constraints he knew he was working under last time he signed a contract. He doesn't have to like it but as a professional football manager he's being employed to manage Everton to the best of his ability with the tools his employers give him, and with a very low chance of losing that job.

I fully understand him taking as long as he takes to make his mind up if thats what he's doing, however if he has decided then i think he should at least tell the club in private what the score is, but presumably if he has he'd also make it public so yeah chances are he's still waiting.

Main problem with that is the fact he can walk away for nothing come Summer. If he means all the praise he's heaped on Kenwright and the club over the years surely he wouldn't leave us in the lurch like this? If he did re-sign at least it would guarantee us compo, or is he worried if he does that no one will be willing to pay compo for him? Players get praised for signing contracts rather than run down their current ones to ensure the club recieve money so shouldn't Moyes be criticised for not doing so?

Not that i would, i see both sides to doing or not doing so.

Think he genuinely wants to be here at Everton FC, but i think its gotten to the point now were he simply cant be arsed not getting backed. Many times over the last few years we have been close, but failed to move on because of the board.. January is a prime example of this. And as many of us would, we'd get frustrated, but at the same time, moving away from EFC wouldnt be an easy thing to do. As many have said he's waiting on seeing what he gets offered, fair enough. Id do that too.
This wouldnt be a problem if Moyes was able to sign more than a 18yr old RB in January.

Sarcastic response, sorry mate, if it helps I am in complete agreement with your post.

Oh right, sorry lar, haven't read all the posts so didn't know your stance.

Kin ell the more this sinks in the more I'm gutted. Especially having seen great Everton teams of the past disintegrate due to a change of management. History would suggest that we might actually be OK in the short-term, but over a season or 2 the team would break up as the new man seeks to bring in his own players. Dreading seeing how Mr X manages to do this with no money.

No-one is bigger than the club - true. But look down the East Lancs Road to see the influence and benefit just ONE PERSON can bring to a football club, bringing them from a value of about £10m to a multi-BILLION pound business. Do not underestimate the importance of Mr D Moyes to Everton Football Club.

No player or manager should be criticised for seeing out their contract. If the board haven't prepared possible replacements with four months to go then they're f***ing morons. Sadly we already know that.

Our first eleven must be one of the cheaper ones in the premiership in terms of transfer fees. £48m.

First and foremost, no-one is bigger than the club. No-one.

But I do think we're better off with him than without. Having said that, only he can decide if he's to stay or not so I'm looking at it like this - if he stays, great. If not, see my first sentence.

Pretty much how I feel.

Only, no he isn't bigger than the club, but he has most definitely performed better than he should have done given the resources he has had, so in a way is vital to the club.

That said, I would take a chance on someone like Martinez, he has every bit as good the credentials Moyes had when he got the job. I was only thinking the other day what a good manager Gary Neville would make, maybe too big a job for his 1st appointment though.

I agree, but i'm just thinking back to the reactions to players like Pienaar who ran his down, and Fellaini when he re-signed allowing us to get a bigger fee if he's sold.

If it was a player doing this i get the feeling more people would be critical of him for it, if he leaves and goes into another job he's doing a cash strapped club out of compo.

But thats his right as there's always the risk no one wants to pay us off for him and he gets stuck here.

Yeah, the reaction would definitely be worse if it was a player, although i think some of that is related to what he's done for us the past ten years. Whether people like him or not i'd hope every Evertonian could see the stability he brought when we were facing relegation regularly.
