CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

That's it - he's off.

He can't announce it now because it would have a negative effect on the players' performances for the rest of the season. Haven't read all the posts above but stuff about 'holding the club to ransom' and 'stringing the fans along' are well wide of the mark. Moyes probably feels that the only person that has been strung along is himself - by a board full of empty promises about backing him to take us to the next level. Utter horsesh*t of course - he has been keeping them out of jail for years while the price of their shares has risen.

Have been dreading this day for a long time. Previous delays in signing contracts haven't been strung out this long - something is genuinely afoot. Just hope we can get our hands on the Cup this season so he goes out on a winning note, but I doubt if it would make any difference to his decision.

In shock, gutted, and seriously concerned about our immediate future now.

Yeah but your forgetting the away derbies mate, the one game of the year except Arsenal away and United away that matter.

Nobody is, was, or will be bigger than the club, simple as. He really just needs to sort it out instead of wrapping the club up in his hand and making them call bluff.

I don't understand why people keep throwing this line out.

Moyes' performance in the transfer market has allowed us to survive and maintain a top 8 finish on a shoestring budget. Nobody is bigger than the club, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't be rightly concerned about the future of the club if Moyes leaves.

We could feasibly get a manager in who has to sell Felli and then replaces him with a Charlie Adam or Joe Allen level player, like Dalglish and Rodgers bought.

You'd struggle to find a second club in world football that has wasted money quite as readily as that lot. They're a rare sort.

Plenty of managers waste money though. Even if the manager didn't 'waste' money i think we'd struggle to find one who can buy as many bargain players as Moyes has.

No net spend for four years... -18m in fact.

I think it would be better to realise actually how important Moyes has been to the survival of our club, no one is bigger than Everton but no one is a better asset to the club right now either.
Everything Kenwright does to destroy us, Moyes has to counter in the transfer market. For a decade and more he has succeeded and then some, there will be no second chances for a new manager to get it right because one maybe two really bad transfer windows and we are beyond screwed. Imagine we sold Fellaini and bought Shelvey.
I hope you lot don't get your wish to find out what another manager will do because for the tiny chance he could do better, there is an enormous chance he will do far worse.

Again, unless he's "had enough", nothing has changed since he came to the club in how it's ran.

He's backed the board for 10 years. Then all of a sudden he's reviewing how the team he's built for years at the end of the year and has put an ultimatum to the board for funds?

Bad smoke screen for his own back pocket or he's off.

Well all know he would've jumped to Spurs in the summer if he got asked. He didn't so he's probably fishing.

It's the way people are going on as if it is the end of Everton Football Club if he leaves they seem to think he IS Everton. Either way I'm not too fussed because if he goes, he goes. He's done what he can do but I'd have preferred a trophy rather than 7th place medals in 10 years when Laudrup takes Swansea to the COC final as favourites over Bradford. We're still in the F.A Cup I know and if that is Moyes' parting gift then I'm perfectly fine with that.

I'm sure either he's just holding out waiting for backing/investment from either this board or waiting for a new group to come in and give him fat wedge.

Eh, maybe.

I'm less inclined to panic to be honest. If only because it's quite difficult to get relegated from the top flight. Even managers as astoundingly incompetant as Megson or Walker never quite managed it. Even a team as god awful as Villa might just stay up.

We get a manager who doesn't work out, chances are we'll have time to correct that before the consequences are too bad.

Three non-promoted teams were relegated last season ?
