Tough one for Moyes as unlikely to ever get massive transfer budget at Everton - but where will he find club that gives him such control? @philmcnulty 5 hours ago

It was a move that resulted in us winning the game, so seriously, who's right - you or Moyes?

ok mate x moyes was right because he brought on the defender who he knew would score a last minute winner. To be fair to me, in the match thread i said watch heitinga score a last minute winner now - so i refuse to say i was wrong :)

Tough one for Moyes to handle as very rarely in British football do managers just see out there contracts, he has said he would never walk out on a contract and it is unlikely he will ever be sacked so I don't know how he can handle it.

I don't get it. What's wrong with him being totally up front and saying 'i haven't decided whether i'm going to sign a new contract yet' ?

I suppose he's entitled to say that as long as he accepts the same situation when players run down their contracts. The board should grow some balls though, in my industry if someone is offered a new contract and they turn it down, within a few weeks or occasionally months they are placed on gardening leave and a new member of staff is brought in. The board should be doing some proactive succession planning and if Moyes then decides we're his best option he may have to accept that he is no longer required. Everyone is acting as if this is a one sided arrangement where Moyes holds all the cards. That may be true but it shouldn't be. If he hasn't decided, fine. The board should consider the options and take the decision into their own hands.

People are going to slate but I can see mourinho coming . Moyes is a very high paid manager so wages won't be an issue and he wants to come to England . I can't see him going Chelsea or arsenal . Tottenham have avb maybe united if fergie goes . He said everton are a fine club . I think he would be up for the challenge of getting everton into a established champions league team . Maybe be outside the box but these are the things going for him

Nothing wrong at all with him saying that.

I think what people are rightly worries about is that he's choosing to see where the team ends up this season and then making his decision. Which may, I repeat, may leave us in the sh*t if he decides to do one.

What's more is that he has a fair amount of control of where the team ends up this year. With being our manager and all.

It's a big worry for me that we don't have a manager for next season at this moment in time.

We don't know what's happened behind the scenes though. We don't know what Moyes has said the board and Bill. We don't know if there is a plan in place for a successor if he does go. Maybe there is.

It's just a worry.

Ian, managers get poached or sacked, the idea one of the institutions of English football effectively stands back as their manager begins an ad campaign for himself seems unprecedented even Pep had the decency to lay out his plans to Barca and Mourinho is openly talking about finishing at Madrid.

Is it really that difficult to say categorically "I'm off unless x,y or z happens"? As it stands it looks like he and probably Kenwright have agreed he's away but are doing the usual - telling porkies.

Moyes is the 16th best paid manager in the world, on 3.6 million euros a year.

Mourinho is the single best paid manager in the world, on more than four times as much, 15.3 million euros.

Wages would certainly be an issue.

I don't think it would be completely out of character for Mourinho but BK certainly wouldn't entertain it as he and the board would be immediately under the microscope for their poor management of the club.

I think that's the main reason we won't get anyone high profile in.

If Moyes is waiting to see if Everton finish 4th or win the FA Cup then we may as well say goodbye to him now.

I reckon anyone suggesting he's trying to bully the board into backing him or selling up is guilty of some seriously wishful thinking. He went three years without being able to buy a single first team player and still sided with Kenwright when the Blue Union protests were happening. I didn't expect him to put on a red nose and throw pieces of Heitinga cake at directors, but he could have just stayed out of it.

I have to admit though, I don't really want him to go. His football has been awful at times, and his public championing of a board which is destroying the club infuriates me, but at least we're safe as long as he's here. Also, he has managed to build a couple of good footballing teams over the years.

There's every chance I'll be calling for his head after our annual Anfield bumming in May, but with a cool head I can't think of a genuine reason to want rid while Kenwright remains. The Everton job is currently one of the highest paying in football, but dozens of managers resign in far less demanding circumstances every season.

Kenwright and his board should be looking at potential replacements, but it's tough to say which avenue they should go down. Finding another Moyes in the lower leagues would be difficult, not least because unlike the man himself they'd be walking into a dressing room full of accomplished players; many of whom are internationals earning upwards of £40k a week. They're not just going to take **** from some fella they'd never heard of twenty-four hours earlier.

There are managers that have achieved great things on small budgets on the continent (Van Gaal at AZ, Mazzarri at Napoli and Pellegrini at Villarreal spring to mind), but the Premier League seems to be more about money than any other top league. There's so much to consider.

I wonder if Kenwright still has Walter Smith's phone number. He's quite good at picking managers.
