In David Moyes's 417 league games in charge of Everton, 169 have been wins. Of those wins, 19 have been by a margin greater than two clear goals. That's 11 percent of the wins, or 5 percent of the total games, win, lose or draw.

In the same period, in the league, Everton have scored 4 or more goals on 12 occasions.

Just for something to compare with, so far this season Liverpool have won by a margin greater than two clear goals on eight occasions. In the past three seasons including this one, having recorded four more wins than Everton, they've won by that margin on 19 occasions, the same number as Everton have achieved since March 2002.

That is a perfetic stat, but I'm not surprised. That's one dimensional football for you.

Backs up the idea that our style of play isnt very attractive

That stat is shocking TBH

Moyes' historic task was to rescue Everton from the amateurism of that divvy Smith and instill discipline and a professional mentality in the organisation. Mission accomplished. To deny Moyes that is churlish. He's steadied us and had us in respectable finishing positions for a long time.

Does that mean he should be our manager now? Not at all. It might be harsh but it looks on evidence to be true that Moyes can take us only so far as a competitive force under the circumstances we have off-field. The question really boils down to this: do you accept the Kenwright years are going to be ones to negotiate and survive, in which case you retain a survivor manager; or do you think that even with Billy Liar in charge we can do something more with the players and budget available.

Tbh, all things considered, I'm not sure what would be the right move for us. Moyes looks tired of this job though, and the supporters are all openly curious about what moving onto the next era of our club looks like, so it'll be sooner rather than later that Moyes is off. Maybe it's better he goes now and preserves his legacy. We all know how this can unravel. FFS, even the legend that is Howard Kendall was targeted in the end.

We're not far off Arsenal and Spurs. If Moyes can find another Mirallas-type to play in the hole and knit things together or if Barkley forces his way into the side we could cross the threshold of being able to break teams down. Moyes certainly has his faults but he offers us stability and he could just fluke his way to a cup win or a Champions League place. It would be a massive gamble to risk that chasing a top 4 finish. And, anyway, who would be available, willing to work with a miniscule budget and be capable of bettering Moyes' achievements?

Good players will help mate but its his preferred style of play that's the problem.

My mind has now been made up. I want Moyes and Neville out of Everton. John Moores would be turning in his grave if he knew the captain of Everton Football Club was telling the media that a top 10 finish is an achievement for Everton.

I'm almost in shock. Neville's comments have pissed me off more than Saturday's match. What a ****ing disgrace!

Get out, and try imposing your loser values on some other unfortunate club!

Moyes has been brainwashing people with this crap for years, he's just a little more subtle. That's why he has lasted so long. Now people are starting to see through his bull****. When he said people's club the majority swooned, all I could see was the dire football on the pitch.

Totally agree. Couldn't believe it when I heard him saying that! Time for him to leave

TIMAK STAT

Liverpool have won fewer points in the last 3 seasons than Everton so obviously they haven't started allocating points for margin of victory.

Is there a way of saving all these hysterical posts so I can dredge them up when Moyes has left and we are 15th in the league at this time of year.

You really don't appreciate what you've got until it is gone.

BTW that was a stupid comment from Neville but the Everton of John Moores is a LONG way from the club of Bill Kenwright.

No, but they are above us right now because of that stat, Timak.

And for good measure, we trail way behind all the other teams above is in GD.

That, my friend, is worth a point.

Liverpool have spent £84m on strikers in the last 2.5 years.

We've spent £5m on strikers in the last 5 years.

It is hardly a level playing field.

Is there any way of me borrowing your crystal ball?

Agreed. But it's not the point. What type of message do Neville's comments give? A totally unacceptable message, that's what!

You are drifting away from the fellow's point.

Which is that not only do Moyes's teams not gain too many wide margin victories, but they rarely seem to try to do so.

Sitting on one goal leads has killed off our CL challenge this season.

And those stats confirm what most of us have known for years.

And which we saw writ large at Wembley last year.
