CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

He has a point. Moyes is thoughtless to the damage done by taking his stand on waiting until the summer. Even if he does re-sign he's storing up bad blood that will erupt if we suffer any nosedive in the near future. I understand from his perspective why he's doing it and that having no contract to buyout will find favour with a club interested in him, but his legacy is going to be tarnished through it. Of course he'd argue that depriving Everton of a buyout fee is dwarfed by the cash he's brought into the club, but supporters never think like that. It's a matter of loyalty and he's losing a credibility battle on that front with every passing day.

I agree with all that

I agree to a point, if he stays I wouldn't say that he's storing up 'bad blood' amongst those who rate him, albeit his image is at risk of becoming tarnished here. If he signs a new long term deal in the next couple of months then this will be quickly forgotten imo. However if the season ends & he's still lifting his skirts to a number of clubs, then he can 'koff for me as well.

like when pienaar left for spurs and then came back was his reputation tarnished, or if rooney and lescott wanted to come back would people boo them, then answer is no. They would be excepted back with open arms and we know it. people said pienaar would be booed on his loan spell he played so well everyone forgot what all the fuss was about, same will happen with moyes,
same with moyes if he signs everyone is happy again.

Reasonable view.

A manager is a bit different mate. He's the leader. Different rules apply.

I must be ill but again Dave you've got it spot on there.

A manager cannot take the p!ss with the club and hold it to ransom. Moyes controls the football side from top to bottom. The whole place is in limbo until he decides which way to jump or more likely which of his targets might give him a bite.

A club like Everton should not be put in this position. In some ways its similar to the carry on with Harry Redknapp and the England job. At least there Spurs took decisive action.

Both Moyes and the Board come out of this very badly.

Do we know Moyes isn't gone for sure and they just think (rightly or wrongly) this "will he or won't he" stuff is better for morale than "he's off!"?

Do we know Moyes didn't give the board an ultimatum (money for transfers which doesn't come from selling) which they refused to meet?

TBF there is a bit of a double standard here.

We want Moyes to be ambitious and confident with Everton; we laugh at him for being ambitious and confident enough to think he could manage Chelsea or Man U.

We want Moyes to hold the board accountable and demand investment; we criticize him for not signing up for another ten years of zero net spend.

While we speculate it's all about Arsenal or Chelsea or whomever ... how do we know he isn't saying "if you could give me 10m a year to spend (in addition to sell to buy money) you know I'd stay?"

That's what we (well a lot of us anyway) have wanted him to do for years. If he'd done that I don't think it would come out now (maybe later) because Moyes doesn't typically operate that way and he knows it would hurt this season and well as our new manager hunt (although I'm aware lots of people here would think outing BK was the right thing to do).

All speculation I know but that's kind of my point ... it's as much speculation as anything else in this thread. The most popular theory seems to be he's had an offer and he's considering other options. Maybe there was no offer because the board couldn't meet his terms.

If he’s undecided, I don’t want him anymore. If he wants to see how well we do in the league and cup, I don’t want him either. Moyes doesn’t have to prove himself to me – and our club shouldn’t have to prove itself to him.
I know the original author probably didn't intend this but "our club shouldn't have to prove itself" could be interpreted differently than "our club doesn't need to prove itself." I agree it shouldn't have to prove itself; however I think it does have to prove itself ... to Moyes and to us fans. Nothing in the last 20-odd years of Everton's history (especially in the BK-era) justifies the club being above having to prove itself to fans, players and managers.

I think Moyes will have made his position clear to the board prior to January... back me and I will sign, don't back me and you risk losing me. Had he been backed, I believe he would have signed already.

Moyes was quoted as saying "I've got a grin on my face" about a day before the Leroy Fer 'bid' was made public, but the smile had long gone once our board backed out of the deal due to Everton not being in a position to sign players who might get injured in the future.

I honestly don't blame Moyes for his current stance. He may well get a top wage, but it's at the expense of dealing with a board who are FULL OF SHYIT! At the very least I would want to see the board put their money where their mouth is in the Summer, like they were expected/required to do in January, but failed to do so.

I can understand Moyes not wanting to put up with another 5 years of Kenwright's bull****. 65k a week is very good compensation, but Moyes didn't come in to football management just for the money, and I think he could get better support elsewhere.

People will laugh, but if Moyes was at somewhere like Newcastle (a place where money is put forward even if it has been spent badly over the years) he would have broken into the Champions League YEARS AGO. He'd have had Stoke doing a lot better than what they are as well.

Rooney to be player manager. Well he obviously is on his way back as he was benched last night but won't come till Moyes is gone. Win win.:P
