Great motivational speaking from Moyesie here. The players must be pumped up and ready to snatch a CL place hearing that spirited call to arms.

He really is a tit sometimes when it comes to statements like this. Just make sure no one thinks you're not underachieving Davey lad, wouldn't want to foul up your possibilities of £3.5m a year elsewhere.

No flies on Moyesie.

It also ignores that we got 4th in the past - probably doesn't want others concluding that, in reality, we've gone backwards...despite all the fine talk of best squad ever ever ever under him.

Is there a part of you that thinks mate hes trying to use the uncertainty about his future to push the board and players. Certainly the board - into more of a financial commitment.

It crossed my mind he's pressuring the players to give a bit more. I do think he'll end up signing for another 3 years...mostly because he wont get a better offer.

That narks me too tbh. This team, which Moyes deserves great credit for having assembled, is IMO more than capable of finishing top 4. We'vebeaten or had at least the upper hand against all others in the CL places at GP this season. No excuse for doing that well against good sides and shooting ourselves in foot against poor teams. If he is saying it to take pressure off players having noticed tension in their play I suppose it could be his intention. But this team is definitely capable of top 4 and 7th would not be alright. That said we should have strengthened in January. Come on lads lets get positive again, can still be an excellent season.

No one's going to put up with that. The situaton is unstable as it is, that just cements instability into the club.

Whilst I agree with you, I can see it being the compromise that keeps him here, if his 'big chance' doesn't materialise between now & June.

To be fair he wasn't aiming the comment at you. He clearly states that it is for "people who know football"

If he sees us like that then he can [Poor language removed] off now as far as I'm concerned. He was managing a mid level Championship side when we hired him and now he's one of the ten highest paid managers in the world, and for all his turning the club into a top seven side again, he's still without a single pot to show for it.

Hold Everton to ransom, just in case something better comes along? No f*cking way sunshine.

"Most seasons we've tended to finish sixth, seventh or eighth and if you ask the people who know football they would say that's about as good as Everton can do," said Moyes.

I despair for people who can read that comment and still want this man at our club.

That is nothing short of a disgrace. For the manager of Everton to say that...

I'm counting the days till he's gone.

You think we can finish higher? I seriously doubt that.

Not arsed if Moyes stays or goes anymore, I worry about losing players like Bainsey, etc.

He's a cautious manager and he conveys it to the team. He wants success badly, but he doesn't have the mentality to make it happen. Thats not to say he cant roll the dice; he let the team run riot in the early part of the season and forgot all about making a big deal of conceding and just asked his team to score and get the job done. Somewhere along the line though (I'd pinpoint it to the moment Coleman was hung out to dry over his slip up against Fulham) the looking back over the shoulder nervousness crept back in. I think players take that onboard and it inhibits them. When expectation rises, Moyes doesn't meet the challenge, imo. Never has and never will.
